Sammy Hagar

As residents of this city, St. Louisans don't necessarily agree on everything. We'll quibble about small stuff — pizza-crust preferences, baseball coaches or the need for mass transit — but there is one guiding force that unites us as a city: our collective love of Sammy Hagar. We simply adore the Red Rocker. Thanks to his hit "I Can't Drive 55," we refuse to obey the speed limit. We scour eBay to buy ancient cases of Crystal Pepsi simply to recreate those commercials featuring Van Halen's "Right Now." We pour his Cabo Wabo-brand tequila on our cornflakes each morning. We have ground our copies of Montrose's first album to dust just to hear a young Hagar's burgeoning vocal prowess. In a word, we are committed. Hagar has made St. Louis his second home, and we couldn't be happier. Is he touring to promote a new album or alcoholic spirit? Does it fucking matter? St. Louis is just happy to have its adopted son back in town.
