The "cultured" people on the coasts may consider places like St. Louis to be part of flyover country, but locals certainly know that's not true — as does legendary choreographer Paul Taylor. This master of the modern form who routinely shakes things up onstage brings his dance company to the Touhill Performing Arts Center on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus (1 University Drive at Natural Bridge Road; 314-516-4949 or www.touhill.org). While there, the 77-year-old Taylor will direct the premiere of his newest work (!) as well as other marvelous pieces like Esplanade. The Paul Taylor Dance Company performs, thanks to Dance St. Louis, at 8 p.m. on Friday and at 2 and 8 p.m. on Saturday (November 21 and 22), which is great news — you have three chances to witness this can't-miss, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Tickets to the performance cost $25 to $50.
