March Pilgrim

How 'bout a pre-breakfast parade?

This year's Thanksgiving Day Parade (sponsored by AmerenUE) kicks off at 8:30 a.m. at North Broadway and Washington Avenue and heads south on Fourth Street and then west on Market Street. The many participating marching bands would be worth the price of admission, if there were one. The pop and bang and boom of the drum corps smack the cold out of the air, and their fierce precision surprises you even more than the Felix the Cat balloon drifting overhead. Need further enticement? More than 100 groups and floats will participate this year, including antique-car brigades, mounted units and dancers. The grand marshal is Major Robert Behnken (USAF), a St. Louisan (like many of you) who became an astronaut (unlike many of you). Find maps and more information at www.christmasinstlouis.org.
