Robots in Disguise

Is there a Transformer named "Microfiche?"

The 2007 summer smash hit Transformers is the ultimate tween-boy fantasy film, populated with cool cars, hot chicks and giant robots. Unfortunately, despite the claims of the toy line's tag line, there's not much more than meets the eye. With cardboard cutout characters and an exceptionally inane script, moments such as the scene where fan-favorite Transformer Bumblebee "urinates" on John Turturro are likely to have everyone outside of the target demographic groaning. But Transformers is the type of movie that rises or falls based on its special effects, and in that department it delivers big time, with a rock 'em, sock 'em robot climax. Transformers screens free of charge at 6 p.m. as part of the St. Louis Public Library's Monday Movie Madness Series at the Schlafly branch (225 North Euclid Avenue).
