Feeling Grounded?

Dance is the answer

The economy is bad, blah, blah, blah; you should be grateful you have a job, etc., etc., etc.; you should be happier still that your home's not in foreclosure, yada, yada, yada. While all that is true, you feel like you're hearing a broken record when you turn on the news, even as you realize your entertainment dollar is more limited than ever before — especially with the holidays quickly approaching. When you go out, you need to not only get the most bang for your buck, but you also need to get some sis-boom-bah thrown in there, too. And that's why you should head over to Washington University's Edison Theatre (6445 Forsyth Boulevard; www.edison.wustl.edu) this weekend for Common Ground, a dance performance presented by Washington University Dance Theatre. During this concert more than 35 student dancers bring eight works by guest and faculty choreographers to the stage (Ganesha Sharanam by Asha Prem is pictured). These pieces range from the classic to the modern, and some are even internationally inspired. And did we mention there are eight of them — for the low, low price of $10 to $15 (at 314-935-6543)?! Gotta love student shows! Common Ground is presented at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday (December 5 through 7).
