In the morning hours of Friday, November 7, Kelty O'Brien was murdered a day before his 46th birthday while driving to work. As the investigation continues, friends and family have joined together and organized a fundraiser to help cover O'Brien's funeral expenses. The South Broadway Athletic Club (2301 South Seventh Street; www.southbroadwayac.org) is the site of the Amateur Boxing Show & Live Auction for Kelty O'Brien. Beginning at 7 p.m. visitors will take in ten fights between some of the area's best amateur boxers and have an opportunity to bid on sports memorabilia. General admission is $20, and groups are encouraged to reserve tables in advance (available with seating for four, six and eight persons) by calling 314-495-0820 or 314-540-7306.
