Make Tonight White

Book a party at the library

Everybody claims to be dreaming of a white Christmas, but then when it snows, people complain about the traffic. Oh, stupid St. Louisans — can't you make up your minds? Thanks to the St. Louis Public Library, you can have your white and like it, too. The Winter White 2008 Party at the Central branch (1301 Olive Street; 314-539-0359 or www.slplfoundation.org) takes place from 7 to 10 p.m. this evening and offers cocktails and dinner in the gorgeous confines of all that classic architecture. Tickets are $250, but that also grants you access to the white-hot after-party from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. The second half of the gala features more cocktails and special desserts, plus live music from DJ Andrew. If gift-shopping has depleted your funds, you can just hit the after-party for $75. All proceeds benefit the library's educational programs. Wear your nice clothes to both parties, preferably something snowy or white to match the theme — this is a gala, after all, and you'll want to dress to impress.
