What is it about candlelight that gets folks so excited? Do we just love the warm glow? Perhaps something in our DNA conjures up a bit of that exhilaration the first caveman must have felt when he discovered the magic of flames. Whatever the reason, we can't get enough of fire, so we must head out to the Daniel Boone Home & Boonesfield Village (1868 Highway F, Defiance) for the annual Candlelight Tour. The outings run from 6 to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday (December 12 and 13), and during your two-hour tour, you will visit more than a dozen historic structures, all decorated in the style of the nineteenth century and lit up by the soft glimmer of firelight — more than 3,000 lanterns, candles and bonfires will be ablaze! To take part in the Candlelight Tour, bring along $10 to $15 and an appreciation of a simpler time. Learn more about the event by calling 636-798-2005 or visiting www.lindenwood.edu/boone.
