With its holiday lights shining like a beacon against a cold, cruel world, Belleville, Illinois, is once again winning the war against holiday Scrooges. From the Main Street Gingerbread Walk to the Horse-Drawn Trolley Rides to the Santa on the Square Holiday House, Belleville offers a cornucopia of festive sights and sounds to raise your Christmas spirits. This Sunday, December 14, Belleville is triply stuffed with holiday goodness: The Historical Society's annual candlelight tour of immaculately decorated homes begins at 2 p.m.(meet at the Belleville Philharmonic Hall at 116 North Jackson Street and have your $15 ready); the Belleville Philharmonic performs its Christmas Wonders concert at St. Henry Church at 3 p.m. (also $15); and the free Holiday Walk along Signal Hill Boulevard, with carolers, decorations and holiday eats, runs from 4 to 7 p.m. For information on all of the attractions, call 800-677-9255 or visit www.belleville.net.
