Nothing can compare to an actual visit to Great Britain. The buildings are quaint, the accents are superb, and the food is, well, it's edible. All that said, it's much easier to drive to Gateway Christian Church in Town & Country (1951 Des Peres Road; 314-821-2156 or www.gccstl.org).No, the church isn't the site of a wormhole suited for easy international travel, but it is where you can find the St. Louis Dickens Festival. A Dickens musical — complete with Scrooge, an angel, good music and fun times — bookends the fest with performances at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday (December 10, 11 and 14). Then, from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday and from 1 to 10 p.m. on Saturday (December 12 and 13), the authentic-looking Dickens-era village is open for business. This is where you're really going to get that British vibe. While strolling around, you are certain to happen upon carolers, you'll have a chance to make Victorian crafts, and you can even chomp on some yummy bakery treats — which will definitely be more than edible, lucky for you. Plus, admission to the Christmas celebration is free! Cheers!
