Shagy Kennedy Benefit Shows

On Saturday afternoon and next Wednesday night, Fubar will host benefit shows for Brian "Shagy" Kennedy. The 25-year-old is battling a rare form of malignant cancer called alveolar soft part sarcoma. On Saturday, there's a five-band, all-local matinee featuring Lye By Mistake, The Livers, Sine Nomine, This City is Sinking and the Humanoids (which is using the show to celebrate the release of its new EP). On Wednesday night, the bill has a hardcore vibe, with Years Spent Cold, Red I Flight, Gloves Off, A Death and a Promise and Hit List. When some of these bands get together, it's usually to raise money for beer, partying and a late-night, ill-advised trip to the East Side — but these two shows are for a much nobler cause.
