A fantastical fixture in St. Louis for nearly 30 years, the Magic House (516 South Kirkwood Road, Kirkwood) has provided youngsters (and their adult companions) with hours of great fun. It remains one of the most entertaining ways children can learn and play interactively instead of passing time in front of the television. The house, as magical as it was before, recently underwent expansion efforts, and now, it has several new additions, including the Jack and the Beanstalk Climber for the vertically adventurous, the Star-Spangled Center complete with an Oval Office for the ambitious, a forensics laboratory for the suspicious and so much more. The Magic House opens the 25,000-square-foot addition today. To be among the first to explore it, show up from 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. and bring along $8.50 per person for admission. For more information about the new exhibits, call 314-822-8900 or visit www.magichouse.org.
