Bun B (a.k.a. half of the famed duo UGK) is a hip-hop archetype. With an official discography that began in 1992 with UGK's seminal Too Hard To Swallow LP and extends to his 2008 solo full-length II Trill, Bun's influence is all over rap's biggest names — from the astounding (Lil Wayne) and alternative (Little Brother) to the exhausted (Lil' Kim). His languid flow, which has been honed to a crisp, efficient rat-a-tat through almost three decades of performances, continues to capture the South's grit — and when paired with the funky punch of his live band, California's Afrobeat practitioners Orgone, the King of the Trill's cadences are near perfect.
