They're Building at the FoundryInstallation art of all kindsBy Mark FischerPublished on January 13, 2009 at 4:42amFor the Foundry Art Centre's Shrine/Installation exhibit, artists were urged to create unique environments within the gallery space. Corrie van Sice approached this challenge by creating Field, a mushroom cap-shaped plaster form crowned by a strand of gently bending LEDs. B.J. Vogt's A Human Geology is inspired by three cross-section slices of the human brain, recreated as layers of cardboard stacked up topographically more than 150 inches high. Shrine/Installation opens with a free public reception from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday, January 16, at the Foundry Art Centre (520 North Main Center, St. Charles; 636-255-0270 or www.foundryartcentre.org). The show remains on display Tuesday through Sunday through Friday, February 27. Admission is free.
