Politics was once viewed as a man's game, but thanks to women like Donna Brazile that's no longer true. As a political advisor and campaign manager, Brazile has set the tone and helped shape the policies of the Democratic party since the Clinton and Gore days. But before she reached national prominence, she was an advocate and activist in her hometown of New Orleans, urging young people to vote and become involved in local politics. Brazile comes to the Central branch of the St. Louis Public Library (1301 Olive Street; 314-206-6779 or www.slpl.org) at 7 p.m. this evening to deliver the keynote address for the SLPL's Black History Month celebration. The national theme for Black History Month, "The Quest for Black Citizenship in the Americas," is not only a subject near to her heart, but it's also something she's lived. Brazile will answer questions from the public after her address, so come prepared and think big. Admission is free.
