Prance and Parade

The dogs are ready

High off their tremendous win in the Puppy Bowl, dogs everywhere have been on their best behavior. They've been wetting in the house less, eating fewer shoes and generally greeting their humans with more unbounded glee. This new trend bodes well for this year's Beggin' Pet Parade — it should be one of the most tail-waggin' ones yet! To ensure your precious pooch has a most puptacular time, get some canine-friendly Mardi Gras garb together, and register at www.beggintime.com (you and your furry friend can also sign up to walk on parade day starting at 10 a.m.). Dr. Barkapotamus (the Night & Day dog, for those who haven't met him) will don a most jaunty purple, green and gold sweater as well as a few strands of dog-food beads, and we will be on the corner of Allen Avenue and Menard Street in time for the 1 p.m. stroll. (Oh, and Ms. Day will gladly pay Dr. Barka's $10 admission fee — he's been a little light on cash lately and Day always likes to support the Open Door Animal Sanctuary, this year's parade beneficiary.)
