Teenagers think they have a lock on love — they talk, or shall we say, IM enough about it anyway — but adults still feel the, well, crushing power of the crush. They know what it's like to be driven to distraction by an object of affection; they still get butterflies! Yet adult crushes have so many more rules, and they're just so much more complicated than young love. And who wants to sing about the difficulties of adult relationships anyway? Booooring. Instead, the Gateway Men's Chorus' upcoming concert, First Crushes: The Object of Our Affection, focuses in on our loves of yesteryear. Songs featured in this variety-style show range from ones of unrequited love to tunes about the unattainable love for somebody famous, and Debby Lennon serves as the mistress of ceremonies. Tickets for this concert cost $23 to $50 and are available at www.gatewaymenschorus.org. Performances are held at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday (March 27 and 28) at the Bastian Center for the Performing Arts on the St. Louis Community College-Forest Park campus (5600 Oakland Avenue).
