Duncans Go Nuts

The Duncan family has seen better days. Dad's messing around with someone other than Mom, Mom's messing around with the bottle, and Sister's got a pill problem to go along with her memory problem. At least the long-absent son has returned; he's come back to tell the family he has AIDS, however, so it's not quite the rousing reunion that becomes a Hallmark moment. In Darwinian terms the family's at the end of the line. Oh, they're still upper middle class, they still have a home and each other, but the writing's on the wall. The Duncans are a species in decline, soon to meet the dodo bird on the other side. Nicky Silver's black comedy Pterodactyls explores the final days of the Duncans, in all their grim and wacky glory. The St. Louis Community College-Meramec Theatre Department presents Pterodactyls at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday (April 15 through 19) at St. Louis Community College-Meramec Theatre (11333 Big Bend Road; 314-984-7562). Admission is free. Be advised that Pterodactyls features adult situations and graphic language, and is recommended for mature audiences. Extinction is explicit, you know.
