Well-Versed

As you know, dedicated reader, April is National Poetry Month, and we're certain by this point you are knee-deep in your celebrations. You're visiting Poets.org and reading a poem a day, and you've even taken to trying your hand at writing a few lines of verse. Though if you're anything like us, you've realized that perhaps it's best to leave poetry-writing to the poets — your haikus are uninspired, your limericks weak, your acrostics silly. But, hey, it's OK! At least you're thinking poetry, so keep those thoughts alive and head over to Schlafly Bottleworks (7260 Southwest Avenue, Maplewood) at 8 p.m. There, Observable Readings hosts a couple of established poets in order to help you mark the month properly. Matthea Harvey (pictured) and Mairéad Byrne read from some of their works, while you drink in the words — and a couple of beers if you wish.
