Wool You Be Mine?

City folks don't have many opportunities to interact with farm animals — no, squirrels don't count — and that's really too bad. Your average farm-dweller is a pretty cute creature, and Shetland sheep have to be some of the sweetest-looking fuzzies we have ever seen (Google-Image-search them on up if you don't believe us). At Bowood Farms (4605 Olive Street; 314-454-6868 or www.bowoodfarms.com) this weekend, we'll have an opportunity to get an up-close look at some of these adorable sheep when Peggy McCallie brings a few to the nursery to demonstrate how to shear them during Sheep to Shear. She raises these wooly guys on her farm near Dittmer, and some of her yarn and other products are available for purchase at Bowood. The sheep-shearing commences at 2 p.m. and is free to watch.
