Free to All

In an economy such as this, even the most ardent supporters of the arts find it difficult to keep up their financial commitments. Symphony tickets or the water bill? A night at the opera or a morning at the dentist? Fortunately, one of our city’s most extraordinary events doesn’t force us to make such choices. The seventh annual St. Louis Performing Arts Night at the Fox Theatre (527 North Grand Boulevard) is free — quite the deal, considering that the talents of these 400-plus students are likely to command top dollar someday. Jazz St. Louis executive director Gene Dobbs Bradford emcees the evening, which begins at 7 p.m. and features everything from concert-band performances to stunning vocal solos. During this two-hour musical extravaganza, you’ll see performers from schools all throughout the area (including Cleveland NJROTC High School, Warrenton Black Hawk Middle School, East St. Louis Senior High and more). While the event is completely free, attendees must have a ticket — pick yours up at the Fox box office. The event is presented by the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation; for more information call the FPACF at 314-534-0880 or visit www.foxpacf.org.
