Lots of moms plan their own Mother’s Day celebrations. To put it simply, this is completely unacceptable. You need to take matters into your own hands and fast, so your dear mom can relax for once. But instead of breaking out the pots and pans (you haven’t been in the kitchen since the Macaroni Incident — the less said about that, the better), take Mom to the Butterfly House in Faust Park (15193 Olive Boulevard, Chesterfield; www.butterflyhouse.org) for the Mother’s Day Tea. At this elegant event, you all will be seated under a pavilion so as to enjoy what will (hopefully) be a gorgeous spring day. Moms and kids will sip tea and nosh on fresh fruit, scones and other sweets, while speaking in polite tones and being ever so thoughtful to one another. Sounds lovely, yes? Spots are still remaining in the 1 p.m. seating; call 636-733-2339 to make your reservations. The tea includes admission to the Butterfly House and costs $19.95 for adults and $14.95 for kids four to twelve (younger children are free).
