Blossom and Grow

Flowers are one of nature's great interior-decorating gifts. No matter your style, no matter the space — from modern lines and a muted color palette to old-school opulent fixtures and colors for days — a bunch of blossoms can perk up and beautify any room. They can help create a mood (rose petals on the bed), they can signify a festive occasion (say, a wedding), and they just might brighten up someone's day (a bouquet can do wonders for a dreary office). To celebrate buds and blooms and all things flowery, pay a visit to the Historic Samuel Cupples House & Gallery on Saint Louis University's campus (3673 West Pine Mall; 314-977-2666 or cupples.slu.edu) during Rooms in Bloom. For this free event, members of the St. Louis Florists Network come together to design arrangements to accentuate and accent each room throughout the nineteenth-century Romanesque mansion. The Silk Pajamas Jazz Combo welcomes visitors to the home during the Thursday preview reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.; the blooming continues from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday (May 14 to 17).
