For a nightclub to survive 8 years is like a puppy dog living for 32 years — each year of a club's life is like 4 dog years. In other words this is no small feat for Rue 13 (1311 Washington Avenue; 314-588-7070 or www.rue13stl.com), which is celebrating its Eighth Year Anniversary Beach Party this evening. Head down to this island of fun at 8 p.m. for all manner of sand- and surf-related activities. There will be fire-breathers and hula burlesque dancers, tiki bars with drink specials and outdoor beach volleyball, plus, there will even be a mechanical surfboard ride! So you best not forget your board shorts — and $10 to get in. Dancing shoes will also be necessary because DJs Deadasdisco and Clockwork spin new wave, '80s, electro, indie and more.
