Even though the St. Louis Jewish Film Festival only runs for five days — from Sunday through Thursday, June 14 through 18 — it sure packs a lot of movies into the Plaza Frontenac Cinema (1701 South Lindbergh Boulevard) during that time. Kicking things off on Sunday, with screenings at 4:15 and 7:45 p.m., is the St. Louis premiere of Max Minsky & Me, a family-friendly comedy in German with English subtitles about a girl prepping for her bat mitzvah. Several other St. Louis premieres follow throughout the fest, including films from Canada, France, Israel and America; topics covered during the cinema-stravaganza range from the lighthearted (the rom-com Beau Jest at 2 p.m. on Wednesday) to the heavy (Charging the Rhino, about the deaths of thousands of Romanian Jews, screening at 2 p.m. on Monday). Tickets to the opening-night film cost $15; all other screenings cost $8 to $11.
