More About

The St. Louis Pridefest celebrates 30 years of community, peace and happiness — and a whole lot of GLBTA love — this Saturday and Sunday (June 27 and 28) in and around the vicinity of Tower Grove Park (4256 Magnolia Avenue). The popular Pet Parade launches the festivities at noon on Saturday at the intersection of Morganford Road and Utah Street. Live entertainment in Tower Grove Park follows the rest of the day, with music from acts such as the Well Hungarians, the Gateway Men's Chorus and Charis, the St. Louis Women's Chorus. Non-musical entertainment includes a set by transgendered comedian Ian Harvie (5:45 p.m. Saturday) and comedian/actress/singer/superstar Sandra Bernhard at 3:15 p.m. Sunday. Sunday is also the annual Pride Parade, which starts at noon at Gravois Avenue and South Grand Boulevard. Both days offer the opportunity to browse the booths, sample some delicious barbecue, drink a brew or two (no outside coolers or bottles, please remember), and visit with new friends and old. Pridefest is open to the public from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, and admission is free both days. For more information check the website at www.pridestl.org or call 314-772-8888.
