Indoor galleries are generally filled with a sense of quiet contemplation and an austerity that the unpredictable outdoors can never replicate. At an indoor art opening, the work demands your attention — but from a safe distance, both physically and mentally. But at an art show outside, the sky's the limit, literally. Of course, thinking about the work and respecting it are still essential, but that feeling of freedom that comes with being out of doors changes the way you look at the art and even opens your mind a bit. Greenspace, an outdoor art show coordinated by the St. Louis Artists' Guild and Galleries, hopes to raise your awareness about our planet's current environmental concerns and/or possible solutions to these problems. The juried art show opens with a reception from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 28, and the work remains on view at West Kirkham and North Gore avenues in Webster Groves through Friday, September 4.
