There are few things in life that provide sheer, unadulterated, giggle-provoking joy. How fortunate, then, that Summerfest in Olivette (at Stacy Park, 9750 Old Bonhomme Road) provides two of our absolute favorite joy-conduits: carnival rides and margaritas! Personal experience reveals that it's unwise to sample the two simultaneously; luckily, Summerfest stretches over four days of fun (Thursday through Sunday, June 25 to 28). If you're looking to get your Tilt-A-Whirl on, you won't want to miss Thursday's unlimited-rides special: During festival hours (5 to 10 p.m.), you can go on as many rides as you'd like for just $15. If all that tilting and/or whirling leads to an appetite, head to the Summerfest food court for hamburgers, crab Rangoon, pizza and oodles of other treats. Live music is on the menu all weekend long, with performances by Zydeco Crawdaddys on Friday, the Anita Rosamond Band on Saturday and the Ralph Butler Band on Sunday. Fest admission and concerts are free (food, drinks and rides are affordably priced). Call 314-444-3330 for more information.
