When young people create art, the end result is an exceedingly genuine form of expression. With fewer years under their belts, teens have fewer filters shading their true vision, and the light of inspiration more readily shines through in the finished product. One look at the works created by the participants in St. Louis ArtWorks' summer apprenticeship program, and you'll see what we mean. These students partnered with professional artists this summer, and the fruits of these apprentices' labor are on view — and for sale. Wouldn't you like to own an original, potentially big-name piece before anyone else? And, more important, wouldn't you like to support ArtWorks and its outreach efforts to empower underserved young people? Thought so. Head over to the Commerce Bank Education Center (4651 Shaw Boulevard) from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for the St. Louis ArtWorks Open House, at which the apprentices' art will be displayed and sold. And before you go, learn more about the organization and its programs by visiting www.stlartworks.org.
