Stars In Her Eyes

As fancy as Ms. Day is, you won't be surprised to learn that she's had several brushes with celebrities dating all of the way back to her childhood. In those younger years, she happened upon Zack Morris (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) and A.C. Slater (Mario López) of Saved by the Bell fame at the Hard Rock Café in Chicago, and she even ran into handsome baseball star Jack Clark at a west county movie theater. Nowadays, she doesn't wait for happenchance to see famous folks; she just makes her presence known at events like the Major League Baseball All-Star FanFest, held at America's Center (701 Convention Plaza) Friday through Tuesday (July 10 through 14). In case you haven't heard, there's a big happening downtown this week called the All-Star Game, and with it comes activities for the ticket holders and the ticket-less — and FanFest is one of those events for everyone. Alas, Day won't be sweating it out at the baseball diamond on All-Star day (it's so unladylike), but she will be at FanFest reintroducing herself to Jack Clark (he's there on Friday and Saturday) and meeting new people, such as Andy Benes, John Tudor, Vince Coleman and more. You, too, can hang with baseball celebs and get their autographs (for free with admission!) — and all you have to do is purchase your FanFest tickets right away ($15 to $30 at 888-326-3378 or www.allstargame.com). Of course, FanFest isn't just an event of celebrity: There are clinics for kids, historical exhibits, seminars, memorabilia and much more.
