The Honorary Title/Good Old War

8:30 p.m. Thursday, September 3. The Firebird, 2706 Olive Street.

You might not recognize the faces of Brooklyn indie rockers the Honorary Title — especially because outside of frontman Jarrod Gorbel, we have no idea who's even in the band anymore. But if you spend your evenings watching the best the also-ran networks have to offer — ABC Family's Greek and the CW's long-running (and long-suffering) One Tree Hill —chances are your ears have caught a few notes of one of the group's songs, which are otherwise perfect background music for, I don't know, folding jeans at the Gap. The real reason to attend this gig, however, is the inclusion of rising Philadelphia band Good Old War. The acoustic trio conjures up the best parts of Crosby, Stills & Nash and Simon & Garfunkel, with spot-on vocal harmonies and touching lyrics. Hell, even Blink-182's Tom DeLonge likes 'em — that doesn't mean you'll hear any fart jokes onstage, though.
