"There's nothing to do here" used to be the standard refrain of young St. Louisans itching for brighter lights elsewhere. Nowadays, that old charge seems hard to support. Stuff's popping everywhere — really cool stuff like the Strange Folk Festival, which takes over Community Park (401 East Fifth Street, O'Fallon, Illinois; 618-624-0139 or www.strangefolkfestival.com) this Saturday and Sunday (September 26 and 27) from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both days. Strange Folk bills itself as the largest indie arts-and-crafts show in the Midwest; there'll be 125 vendors from all over the country, plus Green-centric craft activities, bands and local cuisine. Once you've seen all the handmade knit goods, toys, clothing and art, perhaps you'll be inspired to take up a new hobby — then you'll have something to do all the time.
