Fill 'Er Up

That empty feeling you get inside...man, there's nothing worse. Just when you think you've moved on, that sinking hollowness is back to haunt you. And it happens, what, like three times a day? Cure that void in your midsection at the Taste of St. Louis (www.tastestl.com), happening Friday through Sunday (October 2 through 4) at Soldiers Memorial Plaza (14th and Chestnut streets). This eatstravaganza not only serves up $2 bites from more than 40 local restaurants — including Vito's, Rearn Thai Restaurant, Monarch and Franco — but it also dishes up a helping of chef Hubert Keller on the St. Louis Bread Company Culinary Stage! Chef Keller demonstrates how to prepare a signature dish at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, but throughout the Taste, that stage is hopping with other chef demos, competitions and more. Plus, on the US Bank Main Stage, bands play — the Presidents of the United States of America rock it out on Friday night — and the festival even offers hands-on art opportunities and an International Village. Admission to the Taste is free, and you can either purchase eats individually or buy a Taste-for-Wishes Savings Card for $25, which nets you Taste discounts and a warm, fuzzy feeling for contributing to the Make a Wish Foundation.
