"Party" Is German for "Party"
Our lives are filled with many unanswered questions. Where does the sky end and space begin? Will humans ever be able to travel through time? Why does the Munich Oktoberfest take place mostly in September? All of these are perplexing issues, we know, but don't tax your brain too much pondering them. Instead, head to the Soulard Oktoberfest, which sensibly takes place right smack dab in the middle of October. From 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, 11 a.m. to midnight Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday (October 9 through 11), St. Louisans will party German-style, swilling beers, chomping brats and potato pancakes, and swaying to music from bands such as Brave Combo (at 8:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday) and Die Spitzbuam (playing all three days of the fest). This party happens in four tents all around Soulard Market Park with entrances into the fest along Lafayette Avenue at South Seventh and South Ninth streets; you can reserve your seat in any of the tents by visiting www.soulardoktober fest.com and paying $35, which also includes three drinks and a pretzel. Regular admission to Oktoberfest costs $5.
