Enter the Chamber

What do a movement-based theatrical troupe and an ensemble with a hip take on chamber music have in common? Both groups need a venue to ply their respective trades. For Slightly Askew Theatre Ensemble and Chamber Project St. Louis, that venue is The Chapel (6238 Alexander Drive; 1-800-838-3006 or www.chapelvenue.com). The cozy performing arts space just across Skinker from Forest Park is in need of some new lighting equipment, and so SATE and CPSTL combine forces to present an evening of theatre and music at The Chapel Benefit Weekend at 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 23. For $20 you’ll enjoy the classical-meets-contemporary sounds of the CPSTL, some short performance pieces and cabaret by the members of SATE, drinks, hors d’oeuvres and champagne. Saturday night’s performance (October 24) features Kevin Bilchik, Auset Music Project and Javier Mendoza (also $20), or you can attend both nights for the special price of $30.
Fri., Oct. 23; Sat., Oct. 24, 2009
