Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band

7:30 p.m. Sunday, October 25. The Scottrade Center, 1401 Clark Avenue.

Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band have their work cut out for them. Last August's Scottrade Center concert was so sublime, so ridiculously entertaining, that to top it seems unthinkable. Springsteen started that show with his version of the Crystals' "Then He Kissed Me," unearthed the yearning "Drive All Night" and led an on-your-feet sing-along to "Dancing in the Dark." But, as always, Bruce has upped the ante this time around by promising to play 1975's Born to Run in its entirety. Starting with the pensive piano chords of "Thunder Road" on through to Clarence Clemons' marathon sax solo in "Jungleland," it's an unbeatable record and should be a triumph. Of course, Run will only be part of the night — if last year's show is any indication, expect nearly three hours of hits, cuts from this year's Working on a Dream and "stump the band"-style audience requests.
