Rich in Song

How many times has each of us thought like Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof? Finish this sentence: If I were a rich man (or woman), all day long I'd.... You didn't have to think too hard to come up with an ending (or four), did you? Alas, most of us aren't rich, nor are we ever going to be, yet life moves forward, and society and culture continue to change with each generation. Sometimes these changes are for the better, sometimes not, and sometimes they just are. Tevye tries to uphold Jewish traditions at home, while his daughters rebel, and they and the whole persecuted Russian village sing about life and everything else in this musical, which is staged by Mustard Seed Theatre at the Fontbonne University Black Box Theatre in the Fine Arts building (6800 Wydown Boulevard). Performances of Fiddler are at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and at 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday (October 30 through November 22). Tickets cost $20 to $35 and can be purchased by calling 314-719-8060 or visiting www.mustardseedtheatre.com.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Oct. 30. Continues through Nov. 22, 2009
