Our Lady Peace

8 p.m. Friday, October 30. The Pageant, 6161 Delmar Boulevard.

One suspects that the impressively long career of Our Lady Peace owes much to its light-rock edge. More specifically, credit much of this longevity to singer Raine Maida's quavering falsetto – as heard in the 1997 breakout single, "Superman's Dead," and its half-hook of "why-eee-yyy-eee-yyy?" OLP has outlasted '90s contemporaries such as Lit and Days of the New and still fits perfectly alongside post-Nickelback sensitive dood radio rock. Canuck producer Bob Rock, best known for Metallica's commercial boom years, produced 2002's Gravity and 2005's Healthy in Paranoid Times, which kept the band on FM airwaves when the single "Innocent" was covered on American Idol. Maida produced the new Burn Burn album, which alternates middling rockers and melodramatic ballads such as "All You Did Was Save My Life."
