A Good Fight

Although Thanksgiving is a legal holiday, there are plenty of people who will suit up and go to work tomorrow, just like they always do: your police and firefighters. Some of them at least receive tonight off, but even then, they're going to work for their comrades — and they're going to work hard. The 22nd annual Budweiser Guns 'n' Hoses boxing event features seventeen bouts pitting police against firefighters, and they're doing it for charity. Proceeds benefit the BackStoppers, the organization that provides financial aid to the families of those who die in the line of duty. So if you're thankful for the men and women who lay their lives on the line for you 365 days a year, consider repaying the favor by attending. The fights start at 7 p.m. at Scottrade Center (1401 Clark Avenue; 314-241-1888 or www.scottradecenter.com), and tickets are $7.50 to $27.50.
