Drum Headquarters

Traditional Middle Eastern music doesn't have to just come out of the Middle East — heck, it can waft up and out of the streets of Brooklyn, New York! Raquy and the Cavemen does indeed hail from the Big Apple — though Raquy travels around quite a bit — and the group plays a lively modern-drumming-focused style of music from halfway around the world. Heard at Lollapalooza, the Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC) and now, at the Schlafly Tap Room (2100 Locust Street), Raquy and the Cavemen knows how to give some beat and take people on a musical journey. The group comes to St. Louis as the guest of Aalim Belly Dance, whose dancers offer up a preshow at 8 p.m., and the concert follows at 8:30 p.m. Prior to the performances, Raquy offers a drumming workshop at the Tap Room at 6 p.m. Tickets to just the concert cost $12 to $15, and if you want to also attend the workshop, you'll pay $20 to $25. Call Aalim Belly Dance at 314-961-3790 to make a purchase; tickets, if still available, will also be available at the door.
