Ayse Eren is the former vocalist and rhythm guitarist for Farshid Etniko, the popular local Latin-jazz band. As might be expected, her debut solo album, How Long 'Til, carries on that band's sophisticated, seductive motifs. Recorded and mixed by ex-Stir drummer Brad Booker (who also contributes keyboards, guitar and percussion on several songs), Long places Eren's velvet-coated, vibrato-touched croon at the forefront. This works well with the album's mellow instrumentation — folksy acoustic guitars, gentle rhythms and sweet melancholy abounds — and cameos: Guitarist Thom Donovan contributes licks, as does Eren's former bandmate Farshid Soltanshahi, who contributes a beautiful, feathery guitar solo on the sultry "Can We Go Back?"
