Headlights/Pomegranates/Fractured Army

8:30 p.m. Saturday, November 21. The Firebird, 2706 Olive Street.

Indie-pop classicists Headlights have graced the stage in St. Louis so often in recent years, you'd be forgiven for mistaking the Champaign, Illinois, band for homegrown talent. Its frequent visits have, at the very least, helped the act nurture a fanbase by luring admirers of sun-kissed organ buzz and breathy, boy-girl harmonies. The 2009 album Wildlife found the recently reformulated four-piece pulling back on some of the Death Cab for Cutie exuberance of past releases in favor of introspection, like on the creaky piano lullaby "Teenage Wonder" or the blissfully distorted slow-burner "Dead Ends." Sweetening the deal for Saturday night is Cincinnati's Pomegranates, whose prismatic dream pop and melodic wanderlust have won over the hearts and hips of several scruffy, tight-jeaned St. Louisans. Local nü-wavers Fractured Army open the bill.
