At this point in his career, it would be easy for keyboardist Ian McLagan to coast on his résumé. He's a founding member of the Small Faces and the Faces, was a key sideman on Rod Stewart's early solo albums, and has recorded and toured with the Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Springsteen and many other big names. Yet McLagan, a Londoner who moved to Austin in the '90s, is making some of his most personal and heartfelt music ever. His most recent CD, Never Say Never, dealt with the loss of his wife of 30 years, who died in a traffic accident in 2006. This current tour is a solo affair, with McLagan using just a keyboard and a guitar to tell 45 years of stories from a life spent among rock royalty.
