Go, Glow, Shine

Holiday lights are more than just bits of festive sparkle. We like to think that each illuminated bulb represents a seasonal act of kindness — and with the way you people have been acting lately, we're fearful that this year many lamps will be lit for nothing! It's time to sweeten up already and give a little extra consideration to your fellow man. And if you need an idea of how much pleasantness is requested, no, required, this season, the Saint Louis Zoo can help. The Forest Park institution flips the switch on its huge holiday lights display on Friday, November 27, at 5:30 p.m. Wild Lights are aglow from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday until Sunday, December 13, and also from December 18 to 23 and December 26 to 30. With the twinkling-lights extravaganza, you not only will get motivated to spread your allotment of holiday cheer, but you and yours can also gather around a fire for story time, hop aboard the "Glacier Run" motion simulator ($3), carol along with the choirs, sip hot cocoa and more. Wild Lights evenings have a $5-per-person admission fee, and parking in the south lot by Highway 40 is free — see, the zoo is in the spirit! Call 314-781-0900 or visit www.stlzoo.org to learn more.
Fridays-Sundays; Dec. 18-23; Dec. 26-30. Starts: Nov. 27. Continues through Dec. 13, 2009
