River's Edge of Seventeen

When Ms. Day turned seventeen, she wasn't surrounded by good friends and family members like she should have been. Instead, she was hanging out with tragic high-school figures like those meat-heady morons who could only play parts of Candlebox songs on their guitars. Oh, to be young again — harrumph. If she didn't love Raja the elephant so much, Day would be jealous of the boss seventeenth-birthday party he'll be having today at the Saint Louis Zoo in Forest Park (314-781-0900 or www.stlzoo.org). Bundle up and go hang out with the fantastic elephant, just to show him you care (leave the guitar at home, please). The zoo is open today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission is free, as always.
