Ice-Cycles

You're doing 0 to 60 in under three seconds on sheer ice with no brakes. There are 1,600 sharp steel studs on the tires of your speedway bike for traction, but the engine's a nitro methanol-powered bat out of Hell designed to rocket you to Tulsa and back before you can scream, "Slow down, Satchmo!" Are you experiencing another flashback courtesy of too many energy drinks and your Evel Knievel obsession? No, you're watching Xtreme International Ice Racing, the fastest sport on ice, tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Family Arena (2002 Arena Parkway, St. Charles; 636-896-4242 or www.familyarena.com). At least twenty races are on tap for this evening, with preliminary heats featuring four racers doing four laps while the main event expands to six racers competing for six laps. Tickets for all the thrills, spills and chills are $11.50 to $23.50, and kids tickets start at $6.
