Eat, Shop and See

With its next play, Dramatic License Productions sets out to present a familiar work in what is an unfamiliar space: Chesterfield Mall (291 Chesterfield Mall). Oh, this shopping center is mostly like any other mall, to be sure, with national chain stores, restaurants and the like. But it also is taking a page out of Crestwood Court/ArtSpace's book because it, too, is home to a theater (the Dramatic License Theatre, to be specific), which is where DLP will present Robert Harling's comedy/drama Steel Magnolias. Feel the South come alive and witness the bonds of true friendship in the theater company's new black-box space, located upstairs by Sears and next to Houlihan's. The ladies of Truvy's beauty shop talk and live and love — and talk some more — all while staying strong (and getting their hair done). Steel Magnolias is presented at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and at 3 and 8 p.m. on Saturday (February 4 through 20). Purchase tickets ($18 to $20) and learn more about the company by visiting www.dramaticlicenseproductions.com.
Thursdays-Saturdays. Starts: Feb. 4. Continues through Feb. 20, 2010
