More About

Fans of Asobi Seksu — the New York band known for its dense shoegazing tunes and noisy dreampop — might be surprised to hear how natural its music sounds in acoustic form. On a shimmering ten-song collection first made available at their 2009 shows (the label One Little Indian released a version of this called Rewolf in November), singer Yuki Chikudate and guitarist James Hanna unveil crisp, stark and beautiful versions of songs from their last two studio albums, Hush and Citrus. The new version of the latter's "Thursday," with its nostalgic, bare-bones guitar, piano arpeggios and '50s-ballad feel, shines as brightly as the full-band original, while a faithful cover of Hope Sandoval's "Suzanne" sways on a bed of vintage keyboard patches and Hanna's gentle strums. This Old Rock House show will be an acoustic performance.
