Hot on the heels of Mardi Gras, St. Louis continues to celebrate its French origins with the appropriately named St. Louis French Festival. This artistic and educational collaboration of the Saint Louis Art Museum, the Missouri History Museum and St. Louis Cathedral Concerts features theatrical performances, lectures, tours and musical performances daily from Wednesday through Monday (February 24 through March 1). Friday's events include the one-act play "Veuve Chouteau," in which St. Louis' founding mother reflects on the Louisiana Purchase (2 p.m. at the Missouri History Museum, Lindell Boulevard and DeBaliviere Avenue), guided tours of the Cathedral Basilica (4431 Lindell Boulevard) conducted in English and French at 4 p.m. and a lecture on the stained glass windows of Chartres Cathedral delivered by Professor Lynne Davis at 7:30 p.m. at the Missouri History Museum (free admission, $25 for wine and cheese reception).
