Monday, January 4, mid-afternoon: Dana Loesch zooms around the front rooms of her red-brick two-story, sidestepping her sons' Lego people as she stuffs a bag with all manner of digital gadgetry and awaits her husband so she can head to work. Every bit the southern-style hostess, Loesch is self-conscious about the Christmas decorations still hanging. "Don't look!" she admonishes, then peels out the back door.
Loesch is nervous. Executive producer Beowulf Rochlen sent word late last night that his boss, nationally syndicated conservative radio host Michael Savage, enjoyed her fill-in on The Savage Nation five days prior: Would she like to do it again in less than 24 hours?
"Beowulf said that he asked for me, which I thought was kind of cool, just because of the chick factor," Loesch confides on the drive to the station. "But also because I've only been doing this two years, and I realize it's a big deal, because I know in radio years that's not a lot. The last time I wasn't so much scared about the big difference in audience as far as numbers and national scope, but they said, 'He'll be listening, and he's been known to stop a broadcast before if he wants to.'"
The Savage Nation has been on the national airwaves for a decade. Loesch is the first woman ever to fill in.
"I've got to tell you, I was absolutely stunned," says Jeff Allen, program manager of KFTK (97.1 FM), the Fox-affiliated station that airs The Dana Show six nights a week. "I was kind of like: Really? They wanted Dana? Hmm. They have the right person, right? Because don't get me wrong, I think she's very talented and did a great job and was more than ready. But it's very rare that it happens this quickly."
At age 31, Loesch is a homeschooling mom blogger with a national following, a co-founder of the St. Louis Tea Party and a fast-rising star in the conservative commentators' universe. A self-described smart aleck with a saucy delivery in print and on air, she subscribes to the last-word-wins-the-argument theory and commences many a sentence with the disclaimer, "Now I know this is going to make a lot of people mad, but..."
As her close friend Marjorie Dellas puts it: "She refuses to be painted as anything other than opinionated, and she wants her opinion known. She definitely marks her territory."
A quintessential Type A personality, Loesch seizes on an idea and refuses to let it go, be it serious (launching a networking group for local social-media types) or silly (creating a fake girl band complete with MySpace page with her five best friends). Her sense of humor runs the gamut from brute to goofball. "I would challenge anyone to meet her in person — not confront her, but meet her; those are two different things — and not like her," says Allen.
Loesch lives in south St. Louis, shops at Costco and Trader Joe's, loves Stag and French-press coffee, sets off her tattoos with diamond earrings and likes to fiddle with hydrangeas and handguns. She can cite Scripture without having to open the Old Testament and digs the irreverence of Penn & Teller.
She doesn't fit nicely in a box, you might say, and if you did, you'd also say that's exactly the political image she's cultivating. An erstwhile Democrat who votes Republican but prefers "conservatarian," she has packaged herself as "the conservative alternative to old dudes."
It's a composite that has the GOP salivating. "I think she's extremely smart, a natural leader who's extremely tech-savvy," says Lloyd Smith, executive director of the Missouri Republican Party. "She's reaching a younger demographic than an O'Reilly or a Hannity or a Rush Limbaugh. That makes her extremely unique in being able to get a message into a demographic that historically the GOP and conservative movement maybe have not been as good at as we should have."
Andrew Breitbart, who helped Arianna Huffington create The Huffington Post website and has since assembled his own media mini-empire via breitbart.com, biggovernment.com, bigjournalism.com and more, counts Loesch among his contributors.
"Everybody was telling me about this amazing person who just emerged out of nowhere, who had this amazing spirit and had the ability to write — who was almost the embodiment of everything that I want to happen with journalism," says Breitbart, who recently made Tina Brown's Daily Beast list of the 25 most important right-wing journalists. "I want it to spread like wildfire so that you don't have to depend on middlemen anymore who have ideological goals when they interview you. She has the ability to write, she has the ability to report and has every stellar quality a communicator could possibly want for television, radio and Internet-based forms of media. I can't even begin to tell you how many fans she has in the higher media who say she needs to have her own TV show. She's a stay-at-home mom who homeschools her kids; she's beautiful; she's smart; she's fearless. She's a pure rising star."
To Loesch the transformation from mom blogger to political provocateur has been equal parts thrilling and bewildering. Coming out of the closet politically amid St. Louis' liberal social-media world has cost her both audience share and friendships. "I love what I'm doing, but it's all been a bit bizarre," she sums up.
That Dana chick is a fucking psycho. She even had the Goddamn nerve to bash me for the Twitter background and that "Burn In Hell" comment. She should Rot in Hell!
Dana what you did to Chrissy Matthews was brutal and well deserved you were Outstanding!! Keep up the great work and I hope to see more of you on the talk show curcuit. Sincerely H. Dale Corsi
Say what you want about her education, but that girl can write. As a graduate of both a highly-acclaimed journalism school and law school, I read her Mamalogues website for years. It takes a lot of intellect and self-awareness to write as well as she does.
Dear RFT, I blame you that today I saw Dana Loesch on television debating an issue (I use this term lightly since Dana does not utilize empirical evidence) with Melissa Harris-Lacewell, a Professor at Princeton. Professor Harris-Lacewell, a woman who has built a reputation and career on her ability to apply critical thinking skills to complex questions, was forced to engage in conversation with a high school educated woman suffering from what appears to be Borderline Personality Disorder. The evidence of her affliction: fear of ambiguity, strong defense of weak ego, mirroring her husband's belief system as her coping mechanism to tragedy, a college drop-out and her commitment to being right. If she cannot convince someone she is right she will just be loud. So thank you RFT, for introducing the St. Louis version of snarky to the world. Moving forward, could we not celebrate a person's inability to advance in thoughtful dialogue?
Tea Party Express, How can we the voters let our representatives that have been bribed or threatened by Pelosi, Reed or this President not to vote for Obama's Health Care Plan. Can we let the cowards that vote YES on this bill know that if they step down or are voted out of office, that we the voters will follow them to their next jobs and bocott those companies that hire them.
".I worked for her husband's so called "label" for over a year, and didn't so much as see a thank you for the effort put in to making that particular situation work. It seems it runs in their family to have the employees give give give, while the worker sees no reward, much less any compensation whatsoever. And when asked the terms of the deal, it was said..."you aren't on the original contract, so it's none of your buisness."Not to mention they wanted ALL their conservative friends working for the very project on hand, when none of them had talent to begin with." Bullshit. Before you trash talk somebody you best make sure that actual employees of the place don't catch you in a lie. In print I think that's called libel. I've worked for the studio and I still do work for the studio. What is your name, I'd like to know because there aren't that many employees there anyway and Loesch is the only conservative there which shows me you don't know what the hell you're talking about, and nobody doesn't get paid. Politics aren't the order of the day there. So if you're gonna make stuff up, come out with your name. Otherwise shut up. The hate is ridiculous.
the funny thing is....there is agree-ability in both sides of all these points. I believe that she does her homework, and if that works for her, so be it. However, the guy that left her due to the fact that she wasn't paying him.....I TOTALLY AGREE WITH HIM...I worked for her husband's so called "label" for over a year, and didn't so much as see a thank you for the effort put in to making that particular situation work. It seems it runs in their family to have the employees give give give, while the worker sees no reward, much less any compensation whatsoever. And when asked the terms of the deal, it was said..."you aren't on the original contract, so it's none of your buisness."Not to mention they wanted ALL their conservative friends working for the very project on hand, when none of them had talent to begin with. The funny thing is....I was supposedly 'friends' with the egotisctical child who said and did those things. And I would still be working for them IF working for them meant I was getting something out of it for me and mine... But apparently, that means nothing as long as the freaking conservatives were prospering. What are they really saying??? I couldn't care less....because that's the response they gave me. As long as we get ours, we don't care about yours.......a million dollar studio, and a bunch of push from other angry assholes that only care to write about the worst of everyone, while thinking their way is the only way. This is the reason we have a government, so bullies don't have the chance to overthrow it. And by the way, slavery died with Lincoln. Now Shut the Hell up, so I can try to make ends meet with my family!!

I do remember her speaking out against the repeal of DADT, claiming that the military is "no place for social engineering", for whatever it's worth. Oh that's a good one--"social engineering?" What kind of rot is that? It's called freedom, Dana-freedom and equal rights for ALL--not justy those deemed worthy by a loud and vocal minority-this issue (DADT) has been polled extensively and the majority of Americans feel it is discriminatory. I loathe this shrill circus monkey and her selective morality.
In response to Comment #124: Detached Dana. YES. YES. YES. She lives in a protective bubble and has been out of touch with the real world for many years. She can sit way up high on her cyber-perch and point the finger (or give the finger) to all the little 9-to-5 people below, casting judgment, sayiing whatever she wants, and snickering: "Nyah! Nyah! You can't get me! You can't get me!" All she has to do is turn comments off, hang up, or hide behind those big pseudo-celebrity sunglasses. She is a trashy POSEUR.
Dana seems strangely detached from everything. People in public, how she conveys herself (angry), and how uncool her behavior is as mother of young children. To see her at those tea parties last year acting as if she just lost site of her entourage to keep her protected is funny. The Kanye-style incognito glasses? Come on, lol! She is a smalltown girl with the colloquialisms to match and apparantly unable to develop some class as she ages. I am still looking for conservatives around me to say "I love Dana," which might be typical if she had a regular radio fanbase. She is shrill, unladylike, annoying, trashy- is all I ever hear. You see StL does have smaller tea parties, but I think it's because she just doesn't inspire-the speaker list never changed and she seems negative. Is there a toastmasters to improve one's personality? Maybe that's it.
Jaco! Aren't YOU the one that hung up on Dana when she called YOUR sorry ass radio show to get answers for YOUR lies? Remember the lies Chuckie? The ones YOUR station had to apologize for in YOUR place because you weren't man enough to do it yourself? War correspondent? YEAH YOU ARE! CREDIBILITY? BwaaaahhhhH!! You stammered and acted like a little school girl when she called in Chuckie! YOU had ZERO answers to her questions! So YOU hung up! Yes YOU hung up! You have no room left for your BS Jaco. Go back to your bunker Cronkite! Jimi
As a left-of-center person, I find it hard to keep an open mind by listening to right wing radio talkers like Dana. The problem with listening to her is that she seems perpetually angry. Anger, when handled the right way, can be channeled into something productive, but not when it's the permeating emotion. This is one of the reasons I couldn't stomach much of Crane Durham, whom Dana seems to have replaced as resident shrill-n-angry host. From time to time, I'll listen to Randi Rhodes, a liberal AM radio host who is just as outspoken as Dana, but not nearly as loud or angry. Rhodes was apolitical as a teenager, but become a liberal Democrat, citing her service in the Air Force as a large influence. When she got into radio, one of her first offers was to market herself as a conservative shock jock because the station owners thought she'd make far more money. She refused to do so on principle, and has done a show in line with her left-leaning views. This makes me wonder if Dana Loesch was given this same option and actually went with it, given that she was once a Democrat. Given her hard-line conservative views on fiscal issues, education, religion, etc., I was curious about Dana's views on the issue of gay marriage. (Not that I sent her a very polite, friendly, non-partisan message asking her opinion on the issue. I never got a response. It could be that she gets flooded with e-mails (both friendly and angry), but I wonder if it's something she doesn't really care about one way or another...or she fears backlash for speaking out against gay marriage. I do remember her speaking out against the repeal of DADT, claiming that the military is "no place for social engineering", for whatever it's worth. A liberal friend of mine recently listened to a segment of her program wherein she went from civil to shrieking within a few minutes when annoyed by a liberal caller. My friend had to shut the radio off, and later told me that Loesch is the type who will be a rising star in the world of right wing talkers because she's loud and combative to anyone who dares cross her viewpoints. I hope that his prediction does not come true.
FRAUDULENT GIG = ENTERTAINMENT = $$$$$
I guess the jokes on all of us. Had no idea Dana was doing a Colbert. She needs to be a little more over the top so that more people can be in on the joke. Otherwise, it looks too real. She's not too far removed from Hannity or Beck. Or wait.. are they doing a Colbert too? Is that it? The great cosmic joke is no one can really believe all that conservo-nonsense, right? Y'all had me going there for a minute! Glad to hear it's all just a joke!
perhaps they are more annoyed that she grew out of the immature ideas... ROFLMAO--yes-calling people "pricks" and "douchebags" and hanging up on them when she can't respond substantively is oh-so-very mature...as is "choosing" not to carry healthcare-why I can't think of anything more mature and "responsible" than rolling the dice with your health and the health of your family. You're an effing idiot of epic proportions.
The only thing this savior has done though is slander those that oppose him, blame everything and everyone for the problems, surround himself with people that openly hate America, oppose the ideas of very smart people that have different views, drop in poll ratings, and spend the money of hard working Americans like never before... We anxiously await SPECIFIC examples on all of these allegations. How ironic that you "slander" someone (Obama) while making an argument against those who "slander" Dana-even though much of the "slander" has been spoken to extensively in terms of specific details and examples. Circular logic at its best.
I meant the "half a brain" comment as a compliment, as opposed to Palin, who has no brain at all. Typical right wingnuts can't read context.
Good article... especially if the venom of the comments is representative of the typical readership... kudos for keeping it fair and balanced. I've met Dana a couple times, and somehow missed the 'calculating inner lib conning the conservatives for cash' theme running through a number of the comments here... perhaps they are more annoyed that she grew out of the immature ideas they still bitterly cling to sooth and wail. Oh well... it helps to have a strong appreciation for really good comedy, there's no better writer than reality.
Tea Party---Where WERE they when Bush, was in office. The DEmocrats which are no different than Republicans to me gave the Repubs, a surplus & now you are blamming the so called 1st Black President and his Administration for all the problems that are going on. It all started in the Beginning with Tyrants and their Greed. That is the root of the problem now. The problem is not the poor, it is the rich who can never get enough. It is amazing how tax season brings the economy back up. We the people need to stop spending our dollars with companies that don't invest in our communities period. Jobs--The Global economy my azz. That just took good jobs from good Americans and gave them to you might as well as SLAVES. Who works for $1-$5 a hour. A person that is suffering, and at the mercy of the rich in order to survive. People talk about the issues that caused these problems. The problem is not Barack Obama, it is the people that hate to see a Descendant of Akabulans fix problems that European Americans made. I challege your Tea Party, to go after all the Governmental Crooks, not the people that want to make a better America, something I have been waiting on for the last 20 years. REPARATIONS IS LONG OVER DUE. BLACK HISTORY MONTH IS NOT ENOUGH FOR THE SUFFERING THAT MY PEOPLE Went THROUGH. GO BACK TO THE DAYS OF WILLIE LYNCH, AND START FIXING THE PROBLEMS FROM THEN TO NOW. UNTIL YOU START THERE YOU ARE WAISTING YOUR BREATHE. PEACE BE UNTO YOU AND YOURS. O WHO SHOWS UP AT TOWNHALL MEETINGS, WITH WIFLES OTHER THAN PEOPLE THAN WHO LIVED IN THE WOODS WHERE THEIR IS KNOW CIVILIZATION. THEY ARE OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE REST OF THE URBAN, WORLD. YOUR IDEOLOGY IS ONLY OF USE TO THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN RURAL COMMUNITIES--MOSTLY EUROPS---IS THAT THE VOICE OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE? NO---YOU TO INCLUDE ALL THE OTHER IMMIGRANTS THAT WERE STOLEN AND BROUGHT HERE, OR THE ONES WHO WANTED TO COME HERE THINKING IT WAS A BETTER PLACE. LB,
Dana- its funny how libs are always on the offensive and are quick to slander a conservative, God help us dumb conservatives for speaking up for what we believe in. They result to words like half brain, close-minded, ignorant, and such. The irony of their thought baffles me, the open minded, free thinking, and social activist liberals are so concerned with their politically correct world, but don’t realize that they walk around with their foot in their mouth. Why is this you might ask well let me think, the ability for women to be seen as equals to men and have an opinion is so valued by them unless they are not liberals. They say that they all are enlightened and have a higher way of seeing the world, but in all reality they are zombies walking around following their every command of their political savoir Barrack Obama. The only thing this savior has done though is slander those that oppose him, blame everything and everyone for the problems, surround himself with people that openly hate America, oppose the ideas of very smart people that have different views, drop in poll ratings, and spend the money of hard working Americans like never before. So keep up the good work Dana and ignore crybaby tactics of liberal zombies how don’t really know how to think for themselves. By the way to all you how love to slander people before you have even met them, I do know Dana and her husband Chris they are both wonderful people who are extremely intelligent, incredibly friendly, and are honest hard working Americans. Dereck
She's another post-modern actor - as all neo-cons - they fail to address American cultures upheavel, and the dismantling of our system. The teaparty is made by neo-conservatives, for neo-conservatives, as engineered by its radio station. Followed, and even derived at the grassroots - with the lost radical right-wing populism of fallen Americanism. I'm paleo-conservative.
I was trying to think of who Dana Loesch reminds me of, and it's Vicki Weaver! Remember her? Wife of Randy Weaver and accidental victim in the Ruby Ridge debacle? Vicki was also deeply religious, deeply conservative white-separatist-home-schooler. And about her public school being "less diverse' than her home-schooling crowd? IF that were actually true, it would be because her political ancestors in the 1970s were violently opposed to busing and school desegregation. If this were 35 years ago, Loesch and the rest of the tea-baggers would be collecting in front of public schools screaming obscenities at black students trying to get an education at high schools in white neighborhoods. You conservatives make it too damn easy.
The fact that Dana went several years without any health insurance is pretty ironic. What if she or a member of her family had developed a disease that cost 100,000 plus to treat? She'd be in bankruptcy for years. Sure, she has a job now that will provide her insurance, and that is a good thing, but the irony is in that her job promotes the idea that the other Dana's out there should not receive free health insurance. What I would want to know is had a situation like that occurred, would she all of a sudden change her mind on single payer? Also, can any of Dana's defenders post a coherent reply to this query? I am not asking this to be mean spirited, but I am more or less confused as to what motivates people to vote against their economic interests?
Her show is interesting at times but for the most part has the high pitch shrill of a dog whistle. Most of the time, my radio switches to something else. 97.1 dropped Sean Hannity's third hour for Dana Loesch. Hannity on his worst day is more conservative than Loesch on her best day. So what you're saying is that you're very selective about which college drop-out radio personality you listen to in order to have your worldview confirmed, right? What a sad day when Sean Hannity is referenced as a role model for anyone...he is a bigoted prick who subscribes to the theory that only "certain" Americans should be afforded full rights and uses the Constitution (!!) in some demented manner to try and support that belief. No worries though-there are enough loons out there to keep both Dana and Sean in business--ignorance is boundless in this culture and another charlatan is always waiting in the wings to exploit the naive and vulnerable.
Think arming citizens with AK-47's is smart: then may gun violence touch your family, not mine. Oh I am sure that Dana and her equally responsible husband take all precautions with firearms and their children...just like all of the other parents do whose kids end up shooting themselves by accident or shooting a neighbor or friend-statistics be damned when someone raves about their gun rights as if we were living in the Wild West. Steve-side note-while I agree that the tone could be tamped down from both sides, I think that when someone like Dana exudes vitriol, then she also INVITES it in. We may not be proud of all of these comments, but negative energy attracts more negative energy...it also lets these right-wingers know that we WILL not stand down and allow their lies and garbage to permeate.
To the gentlemen referring to Steve Truesdell, I have never lived in Wisconsin, so please leave me out of your comments. To all the other commentors on both sides; You are an embarrassment to yourselves, your country, and your species. Keep your fingers off the keyboard and learn about the world from a new perspective. Your extensive ignorance is NOT something to be proud of and the childish bullying and name calling is gross. My prayer for the next several years is that all dogmatics get to experience the affects of their own social policies. You're anti Health reform: then may the reasons reform is needed touch your life and not mine. You want war: then you go fight it Think arming citizens with AK-47's is smart: then may gun violence touch your family, not mine. Don't want gov't regulation: Then may the next product scandal hurt your loved ones and not mine I'll accept more Gov't debt on my shoulders if you are willing to accept the cost of your policies on your shoulders. Either way though, all of you do our nation a favor and STFU! Do something constructive and stop boring people with your self indulgent whining !
She's smart, she appeals to stupid people, of which there are many. Get that money while you can, Dana.
So let me get this straight, people here are truly taking offense when 'left leaners' insult this woman in their comments here, yet it is fine for her to hang up on callers while she calls them douches and pricks? Nice double standard you toadstool uneducated hypocrite hillbillies. Fuck this twit and all of the twits who follow her.
Dana Loesch is a conservative only because she profits from it and only backs conservative causes when it advances her newly-found career. She has proven to turn her back on conservative priciples such as the rights of business owners. Loesch was asked last fall to back local business owners opposing Proposition N. Instead, Loesch chose to ignore their request. By supporting Proposition N, Loesch showed she still has too much liberal in her to be trusted as a conservative. Proposition N was proposed by a liberal and got its considerable support from liberals who ended up winning their battle for more government control of private business. Loesch thinks more control of business is ok. Throwing tea bags in the Mississippi River looks very conservative in a TV news clip but the real Dana Loesch doesn't care about the convervative principle for less government control of business. The passage of Proposition N will result in a 10 to 20 percent loss of revenue for St. Louis city and county businesses after Jan. 2, 2011 or go out of business altogether as their brothers and sisters have done in Illinois since similar legislation was enacted in 2008. I laughed when I read that she had the second most-listened-to radio show on Sunday night. One thing I learned after working in radio and television for 30 years is that few people listen on Sunday nights because it's the biggest night during the week for television viewing. Her show is interesting at times but for the most part has the high pitch shrill of a dog whistle. Most of the time, my radio switches to something else. 97.1 dropped Sean Hannity's third hour for Dana Loesch. Hannity on his worst day is more conservative than Loesch on her best day. People who follow Loesch's effort in the tea party movement are following a false prophet. She has proven not to endorse basic principles of conservative values. Therefore, she is only a pretend conservative who practices it when she can profit and advance her career with it. Scott Simon Campaign Manager BPA of Missouri against Proposition N
@mother nature - the preacher at the church Dana attends is her father-in-law.
Damn there's a lot of hatred out there from the left leaning people. UH-HUH-AND NONE FROM THE "RIGHT." YOU HAVE ACTUALLY SEEN SOME OF THOSE SIGNS AT THESE TEA PARTY EVENTS, RIGHT? COMPARING OUR PRESIDENT TO A MONKEY? THINLY VEILED THREATS OF VIOLENCE? PEOPLE BRINGIN GLOADED WEAPONS TO EVENTS WHERE THE PREZ IS SPEAKING? AND WHAT RALLIES WERE PEOPLE SHOUTING "KILL HIM (OBAMA)" YEAH-mCCAIN-PALIN-THAT'S RIGHT...SAME ONES WHERE PEOPLE YELLED "MUSLIM" (AS IF THAT BY ITSELF IS A SIN).I AM SURE YOU'VE SEEN OR READ SOME OF THE RIGHT-WING BLOGS WHERE PIX ARE POSTED OF MICHELLE OBAMA COMPARING HER TO SOUL SINGER JAMES BROWN IN APPEARANCE? I COULD GO ON AND ON BUT WHY BOTHER? I attend church with Dana and her family and their very nice devoted people. That's right attend church! you hatred filled people on the left apparently don't attend regularily or don't pay attention to the message of the bible. FIRST OF ALL, YOUR ATTENDANCE AT CHURCH MEANS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BY ITSELF IN TERMS OF YOUR WORTH AS A HUMAN BEING. I KNOW A LOT OF CHURCH-GOERS WHO ARE SOULLESS SHELLS AND USE RELIGION TO MASK THEIR HATRED FOR OTHER RACES AND EHTNICITIES-DON'T PLAY THE RELIGION CARD-IT'S TIRED AND IRRELEVANT WHEN IT'S USED AS A BAROMETER OF SOMEONE'S VALUE...BY THE WAY, WHAT DOES THE PREACHER/PRIEST THINK OF DANA ROUTINELY CALLING PEOPLE "PRICKS" AND DOUCHEBAGS? JUST CURIOUS... If you did your value system would tip your political views to the right, like this union electrician has. I don't vote my wallet I vote my values and the Dems don't seem to have any worth a damn! I'm not saying the republicans are perfect but presently their the lesser of the two evils.THEN YOU ARE INCREDIBLY IGNORANT BECAUSE YOU CANNOT LEGISLATE MORALITY-MAYBE IF YOU STOPPED BEING A BUTTINSKY AND INSERTING YOURSELF INTO THE PRIVATES LIVES OF OTHERS, YOU WOULDN'T KEEP GETTING SCREWED BY THE PARTY OF NO AND THE PARTY OF THE WEALTHY. In closing, your comment was pathetically weak and devoid of any substance--it was a typical "we're better than you because we go to church and attempt to control the lives of strangers VIA A VIA "MORALITY." Go to hell.
I was surprised to read an unbiased article in the RFT. I have been reading this rag for better than 20 years - I liked it better when Ray still owned it - and usually I have to lean in my chair to the right just to balance out the slant contained in most of the articles. I do not know Ms Loesch personally but I have heard her on the radio and while she is a bit high-headed and quick to draw conclusions, she brings a much needed shot of enthusiasm to the political arena. I think it's sad that she has lost friends simply for her political stance. I am sure that she and her friends feel the same way. I come from a family of raging liberals but I wouldn't trade them for all the tea in China.

I love to see such comments from the "Party of Tolerance". They can't defend there positions with dialogue so they attack the person. Dana has struck a nerve with conservatives and liberals. Conservatives are happy to have another voice challenging the Democratic National Media outlets and Liberals hate that their is another voice challenging the DNM. I hate to tell you but the voice's will not be silenced despite the constant liberals attacks. But I will admit that I don't believe this will translate into a conservative majority in congress. Unfortunately I think the liberals have enough power to push through their agenda and DESTROY OUR NATION!!!
I'm thinking that curly-haired brunette who plays Cuddy on "House" would be a shoe-in for the Dana character.
Which actors and actress should play Chris and Dana Loesch in the upcoming made-for-TV movie? Easy: 1)Zach Braff as Chris...though Zach seems a bit too kind to play some right-wing "rocker" with a heart of stone. 2) Either a scaled-down Paula Poundstone OR coked-up Tracy Gold as Dana Loesch. For camp value, Amy Sedaris could probably provide the kind of over-the-top performance needed to do "justice" to Dame Dana.
Which actors and actress should play Chris and Dana Loesch in the upcoming made-for-TV movie?
can't we all just agree that Dana is: a money-hungry, self-indulgent, intellectually challenged, emotionally stunted, narcissistic, whiny, hypocritical, devolved piece of backwards country trash poseur and move on? Signed, The Dalai Lama
Think what you want of Dana's views and living, and if you will? Take a good hard look at yourself, your views, your actions, your dress, your hair, your voice, etc etc. If you can't see a problem? Ask a friend or a family member. Let me see if I understand...it is perfectly reasonable for someone who has a show that purports to be all about "freedom of speech" and civil liberties to CUT OFF CALLERS with whom she disagrees and to call politicians and others with whom she disagrees "douche-bags" and "pricks." However, those of us who feel that she is obnoxious not just in her views but also in her approach are supposed to STOP criticizing her and making "personal remarks" about her. Ummmmm....with logic like that, you might be on her heels as the next voice of talk radio.
First I don’t trust wine drinkers. Sorry, the damn histamines make you loopy. I caught the RFT article in the office as I was waiting for a political meeting that took way longer than expected (meaning I was at the bottom of the totem pole and a couple of folks before me were at the top). My mother (God bless her) has been carrying the Tea Party banner since it was raised, much to my chagrin. I think, like most, she pretends that it is impartial and hates both sides of the isle. However, the truth is, the movement let itself devolve into a tool of the right, and I do mean far right. So I thought I would read the article and give this girl a chance.then I checked out her blogs Wow babe, you’re going to make it in the fabulous world of Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Keith Oberman, Anderson Cooper, and the like, just on sheer ego and hubris alone. However, who in the hell do you think you are? I am sick and tired of people who have never, lifted a shovel to fill a pothole, picked up a rifle to defend this country, carried a wrench to fix a broken water main, or even bothered to finish what they started, telling me how this country should be run. Oh that’s right you had some babies. Just like Hillary Clinton, Barbra Bush, Nancy Pelosi, and “welfare mommas” who I am sure you regale against on a daily basis. Give me a break. You went from high school to about 10% of college, to marriage, and on to motherhood. What gives you the right to dispense wisdom to everyone? Ohh 9/11. I enlisted after 9/11, fought in two wars, came home, finished college, and worked two jobs. Then I actually got a job in government and I have spent the rest of the time making my segment of the government work. But now I’m the problem right!?! I’m big government, who makes sure; IEDs don’t clip you and your kids on the way to their daddy’s studio, that your toilet flushes into a sewage plant, that you actually have tap water, that police show up when you dial 911, and that the house next to you got tax credits to be rehabbed. So do me a favor, get your hair did, paint your nails black, look cute, stop pining after Brietbart, and spend your time teaching your kids to learn. I don’t mean what mommy believes. I mean to question and develop a genuine thirst for knowledge. I’m not quite sure you are qualified to do that, but please prove me wrong. Evil Socialist, Bush Voting, Obama Voting. Veteran Who Has A Real Job For Now, Until The Tea Party Takes Over.
So A Democrat has finally pawned all the stupid conservatives into joining her giant narcissistic and commercial venture called conservative talk radio. First Joe the Plumber and now Dana the Talentless Phony. If she were a man she'd be..well..Crane Durham. Lucky for her she just siphons everyone else's work and adds a "douche" award and the powers at Emmis thinks she's a genius. Just wait until she has two hours of prime time radio to fill. Two hours of chatting with fellow blog geeks will get old fast. Two hours of a "conservative" calling everyone "sexist" and "racist" will get old fast too, as they realize just what a liberal she is. And ever Google image search this diva? anyone that into photographing themselves has issues..and they aren't conservative issues at all. Just because her husband Chris wears his Reagan t shirt to cover his beer belly doesn't mean this is the new era couple, folks. Anyone who remotely investigates their past knows they are in this for the money. Dana makes tons of cash from her websites and the ones she creates when an issue comes up. Not to mention the money pouring into her bank accounts from Freedomworks and the other folks who use her like a whore. Dana is a fraud. Why hasn't anyone called the local shows on 97.1 to ask the hosts about her? I bet they'd have a few things to say or , maybe, their silence would be quite telling. They'll probably have to wait for her book to find out how much contempt she has for everyone she uses and spits out. But Dana should be commended. She is one of the few American citizens to actually turn a profit upon the election of Barack Obama.
for the record - not all women need "Loesch, Sarah Palin, Jennifer Rubin, Michelle Malkin, Michelle Bachmann, Marcia Blackburn" to speak for us. We do quite well for ourselves. We also do not need to figure out how to vote or defend our opinions from those on radio. But - we do enjoy retreating from our busy daily lives by "trolling" the comments page to see how worked up people can get over an article in the RFT.
Not all of her listeners are fans. I tune in occasionally to marvel at her ignorance and audacity. Much like the saying goes, "There are no athiests in the foxhole" there are no teabaggers without health insurance in the ICU. She seems strangely proud of the fact that she has no health insurance. She's one hot appendix or case of breast cancer away from financial ruin. The darling of STL talk radio would compromise her ideals on "Obamacare" like a drunk virgin on springbreak if she was faced with the prospect of financial ruin from an unplanned catastrophic illness. She'd beg for a medicaid application faster than you can say "You Betcha" as I hung up 5,000 dollar bags of chemotherapy on her smug ass.
I'm really tired of her bragging/ranting about "personal responsibility" when it comes to healthcare. It becomes MY responsibility when Ms. Loesch or her children or her husband goes to the ER for treatment or has a catastrophic medical need with no healthcare. I'm the one who pays higher premiums because she "chooses" not to carry healthcare insurance. Or perhaps it's "personal responsibility" when her mother-in-law developed a serious illness and she begged for money on her blog before the hospital forgave most of the debt. The hypocrisy is staggering. I'm glad the college thing was mentioned in the article. She has always implied a degree from a "pricey, liberal college", and skillfully evaded any questions about it. I do wonder how she could afford a pricey liberal college if her childhood was as full of hardship as she suggests. And if it's true that she dropped out with less than a semester to go....she's not nearly as smart as she would like us to think. She would like us all to see her as cooler, hipper, smarter and more relevant than everyone else. All she has managed to do is come off as a shrill, angry, arrogant, deceitful, self-serving cartoon. If she really wants to be a significant part of the political arena, she needs to learn some humility and grace. Otherwise, when her star has burned out (and it will) the paybacks will be a bitch.
It amazes me what one will find in the comment section of any page. The display of vitriol and hatred towards someone over politics, dress, hair, voice, and even their children's education, are attacked with zealous pride over the stroke of a freakin' keypad. Real scholars and players here right? America's best? The land of opportunity, diversity, charity, a melting pot? I don't believe that America can be summed up or statistics derived from the comments on a webpage, because if it were we'd be living in a mental cess pool. Division in poltics etc is clear in our country, but the fundementals are still there aren't they? What makes us Americans is still hangin' around somewhere is it not? What brings us together is not politcs and the smack talk here is it? How many here that are liberal have conservative friends and family? Visa Versa? Do you speak to them that way and hold them in the same regard? Your neighbor? Go ahead Disagree! Argue! Snide remarks are expected, sure. Get deep into it, YES do it! Yet at some point the stupidity and over the top hate on both sides of the vitriolic poison has to stop doesn't it!? Think what you want of Dana's views and living, and if you will? Take a good hard look at yourself, your views, your actions, your dress, your hair, your voice, etc etc. If you can't see a problem? Ask a friend or a family member. Jimi
Providing it's not too late to prevent the "progressives" annihilation of our individual liberties, it will be conservative women who ultimately save this country. Loesch, Sarah Palin, Jennifer Rubin, Michelle Malkin, Michelle Bachmann, Marcia Blackburn, and others currently ascending the movement ranks have more courage, integrity, political will, and grounded convictions than far too many of my own gender who have surrendered their testicles at the altar of compromise and collegiality. You go ladies!
I had no idea the RFT was this partisan. I thought they would be much more independent. This makes me not want to support them any more. How sad. WTF? Did you read the article? This wasn't even remotely "partisan." They hardly challenged her on her ideology-it was mostly the same type of puff piece that would be done on any "local" person of interest. You don't sound too bright.
Look at how a sentence or two, by me, caused you to blow a gasket and degenerate to name-calling Danno-1) You mean the "sentence or two" where you implied that ALL progressives want government to take over their lives? Yeah-that was a "reasonable" statement, right? 2) I noticed that you didn't respond to any of the FACTS I put forth to destroy your argument. Rather than simply making ad hominem attacks, why not respond to the issues and examples that I raised...or is that just how "you people" operate? See-I can make blanket statements too-it doesn't require a lot...I'll bet you failed (miserably) Critical Thinking in high school, huh? Your lame approach might work with your hare-brained cronies, but unless you can provide ANY substance to your argument, why not do everyone a favor and troll on some other web site, okay?
This is kinda off topic but someone said she gives the impression that she went to an "elite" college. When Did Webster become an elite college? Just wondering? Not that you can't get an excellent education by going there.

I was just wondering if the Steve Truesdell, the photographer, was the same Steve Truesdell mentioned in this article I new in Beloit, Wisconsin growing up. I believe he lived on White avenue at that time. His name is not a common name which makes it easier to remember. Otherwise the article was very informative and interesting. Thank-you very much.
Oh suzy Q. ! Look at how a sentence or two, by me, caused you to blow a gasket and degenerate to name-calling ! It's so easy to get libs riled up. Always thinking emotionally, not logically. You guys just can't control yourselves.
I had no idea the RFT was this partisan. I thought they would be much more independent. This makes me not want to support them any more. How sad.
Essentially, all of the Dana bashers are saying "we want big government to control our lives". How absurd. I can't even fathom how a brain like that ( or lack thereof ), works ! Rrrrright, "Danno," because it has to be one or the other-government is EVIL or government is the panacea (look it up in a dictionary) for everything. There couldn't be conceivably be a middle-ground or ass-clowns like Dana and Hannity and Beck and Palin wouldn't have careers. Do you have a parent or grand-parent who receives Social Security? Ask them how "evil" it is and how the government is "controlling" them through this program? Medicare? Same thing. Oh I know there are problems with Medicare, but again-ask people who USE it if they want to give it up... Ever need time off work to care for a sick parent or care for a newborn, "Danno?" Guess what? Were it not for FMLA (again-look it up), a government program, your employer could say "go eff yourself, we're not keeping a job open for you while you tend to family matters." Know of anyone who's been hurt on the job? look into SSI/disability...hazardous work conditions...check out OSHA...both GOVERNMENT programs....have $$$ in your local bank...who the eff do you think that FDIC is...ya think that's a private business looking out for your best interest and ensuring that you $$$ is insured up to a specified dollar amount. Responding to idiotic and over-reaching statements like yours makes my day, Danno. You don't have the mental capacity and/or are too lazy to even do the most basic of research before opening your big, fat right-wing gob to spout garbage. Irnoically many of you who rant about "big government" have either been on the dole or will most likely be on it when you lose your job at Best Buy or one your pregnant girlfriends pops out another one and is forced to quit her job at QT. Glenn Beck and Limbballs BOTH were welfare recipients...but according to them, people who are on it now-people other than them in other words-are just lazy pieces of trash bilking the system. My god-that lack of brain power you reference is scary indeed.
If Ms. Loesch is so integral to the Tea Party movemment then why was her name not even mentioned in the March 1st edition of TIME magazine's article about the Tea Party? Maybe she is not as important or integral as locals may think.
Essentially, all of the Dana bashers are saying "we want big government to control our lives". How absurd. I can't even fathom how a brain like that ( or lack thereof ), works !
HELLO? IS ANYBODY LISTENING? Plenty of fellow conservatives don't like Dana Loesch. It's not the message, it's the messenger! Listening to Dana rant is akin to watching two trailer-park chicks in a catfight on Jerry Springer. She hides behind "shock value" because the truth is, she really doesn't know diddlysquat. She simply regurgitates garbage and phraseology that she reads on the Internet and tries to pass it off as her own "opinions" and "ideas." If she was ugly, there would be no DanaCam, I assure you....
She has "Runaway Bride" eyes and that hair looks like a cross between Justin Timberlake during his "Annie" stage and Kirsten Dunst in "Interview with the Vampire." In short, she looks unbalanced and teetering on the edge of a massive melt-down...hope that doesn't happen since she "chooses" not to carry health insurance. What a mouth-breathing troglodyte.
you see, us righties use nothing but the facts to win our arguments ROFLMAO--thanks for the unintended laugh. Yeah-everytime I hear Beck ranting about his latest conspiracy theory, I think "WOW-that guys knows his sh**." The NBC building in Rockefeller Square has "coded" Communist messages and images in it... Everytime I hear Limbaugh say something like "You know what God and Obama have in common? Neither of them has a birth certificate, I nod my head and murmur "absolutely. Just because two newspapers in HI posted the birth announcement the year he was born AND the fact that neither McCain nor Hillary went after this in the primary, I trust Limbaugh's "instincts." When Sarah Palin speaks of "death panels" and writes articles about cap and trade that even Republicans laugh about, I think "there is one smart lady who knows her sh**." When she stands in front of cameras and LIES about saying "No" to the Bridge to Nowhere, I marvel at her integrity. When she is found guilty of ethics violations in AK and the looks right into the camera and says "I'm glad that I have been cleared," I think "speak the truth, sister!" When Republican senators fuel the fires of ignorance by speaking about healthcare reform as a "secret plot to kill Granny," we all affirm and scream "that is very helpful and constructive to this debate." When Michelle Bachmann (R-MN) says that members of Congress should be investigated for possible un-American activities, I think "absolutely-because there is only ONE type of American-a Conservative-anyone else MUST be hell-bent on destroying the country they live in." I also give her kudos for propogating the lie that the Census is a "secret plot to..." well-she never got specific, but given the FACT that the Census in part determines the NUMBER of Reps that a given state gets, she may have shot herself in the foot on this one. What I am trying to say is that your statement is laughably asinine and easily disproved. Now run along and go back to whatever cuckoo-clock right-wing blog you normally post your ill-informed opinions on, m'kay?
It never ceases to amaze me how people who claim to be either non-judgmental or tolorant, usual prove to be neither. Fortunatly I have had the honor of getting to know Dana, and others in the Tea Party movement, over the past year and have found her to be nothing but gracious and kind. Some mistake her passion for screaming and may be intimidated by a strong willed, tough, no holds barred Woman. But that is only because they have not had the opportunity to get to know her. If Dana's message and beliefs were not the same as the majority of the people in the St. Louis Area, then would someone please explain to me why she has seen continued success? Unlike Air America, Dana's career has grown not because she is spouting talking points for the sake of profit, but because she has a strong belief in what she preaches. I would also like to take my hat off to the Author of the Article. If the Post Dispatch had reporters of such high caliber and integrity as the RFT seems to have, then they would still be the Paper of note in the St. Louis Area and Bloggers like me would be out of work. I may not agree with, or even like, many of the comments here about Dana, but I would bet that she would join me in saying that I would Fight, and Defend with my Life if necessary, your rights to express your opinion, no matter how hateful. We will just have to Agree to Disagree. In Liberty, Patch
I've been listening to Dana when she was only on Sunday evenings...then I heard she went to 7pm during the week, along with Sunday...didn't really listen to her then because of O'Reilly...now I hear she is replacing Hannity from 2pm to 4pm...She is a breath of fresh air and I love her style...she takes no punches from the lefties and hammers them with nothing but the facts...you see, us righties use nothing but the facts to win our arguments while you lefties have to smear (no longer useful since we all know about the Alinsky tactics)...KUDOS to you Dana! Keep up the GREAT WORK!
Great...like all the white trash in this country needs some other assclown riling them up.
And what about being a young kid and hearing your mom rant, rave, and insult people on the air...calling them "butt cracks" and "douchebags"? Gee, what a classy chick..... LMAO-yeah...about as "classy" as an untreated STD. She makes Lizzy Hasselbeck on The View look like Princess Diana.
*sigh*-another Guns/Gays/God extremist who panders to the lowest common denominator. Just like her counterparts (Beck/Insanity/Limpballs), she is an entertaining clown who provides a non-stop barrage of ad hominem attacks in lieu of any substantive arguments and hasn't a clue as to how to solve problems...nor does she care...because then she'd be out of work. Dana and all of the other "danas" of the world feed upon anger, fear, and ignorance just like carnivores tearing at whatever carcass is available to them. I hope that her short-lived fame as a clown makes up for her charred soul.
A few years ago, a mutual friend said "Chris's wife is writing a blog and its hilarious...you should check it out!" I've followed her story ever since. I enjoy her writing. I was happy for her successes and sad for her frustrations. I identify with her on some issues and when I find that I don't agree with her or think that her words are too harsh.....I turn her off. But I still go back to find out "what does Dana think about this?" She is a writer who is able to get into my head and make me think. Her passion for what she believes incites me to get up off my apathetic duff and research the issues myself. I am sorry that there are some who think that Dana has blind followers but I think that she has just as many empowered followers as well. Keep it up Dana. I'll keep reading.
Nice article about an interesting person but the reference to Tea Party co-founder sounds like someone jumping in front of a parade and calling themselves the leader of the large group following behind.
I had no idea who Dana was other than seeing her name here and there. I read the l-o-n-g article because 1) wanted to know who she is and 2)it was interesting after I started. I'm very impressed and plan to pay more attention when I see her name. Of course, after reading the nastyments in comments by "former" friends and other excess liberals, I will definitely follow Dana. I find myself drawn to people that get liberals spittin'nasty! LOL. LMAO. ROFLMAO...
I have never listened to anybody on the radio with such little substance. She is pathetic. Shouting down the opposition, and dropping phone calls doesn't make you right, it simply proves your cowardice.
Dana is absolutely amazing.. Not only does she know her stuff, but seems to be well-rounded, down to earth, and was awesome when I met her in person. She is only going to get a larger and larger following. Rock on Dana!!!
I wonder if Dana even understands that she's just cheap entertainment. Like a Jerry Springer guest. OMG...she might actually think all this is a validation of her professional skills...I wonder how someone who misspells and uses bad grammar can homeschool children properly. And what about being a young kid and hearing your mom rant, rave, and insult people on the air...calling them "butt cracks" and "douchebags"? Gee, what a classy chick.....
Let's all put the personal attacks to the side for a moment and look at this a bit more critically and broadly: 1)While foregoing a college degree is a personal choice, why do some feel compelled to attack or demean those who DO actually complete their studies? There seems to a be a lot of venom and cries of "elitism" towards those who value higher education. When did education become a liability...? I realize this has worked for Limbaugh and Beck and apparently is something that loesch uses in her arsenal of deflection, but the lack of a formal education doesn't benefit most of us. 2) While Dana and others might be able to quote Scripture w/out opening the Bible, so what? How is this relevant to her job? There is an implication that this is some sort of "achievement." If she can quote Scripture, then surely she knows that her ad hominem attacks on those who disagree with her are un-Christian-why do people like her and Laura Ingraham tout this self-proclaimed badge of "Christianity" and then behave in a manner that is unkind/vicious/and a lot of other traits that are against the very nature of being Christ-like. 3)Merely being "angry" does not a movement or a party make. What amazes me about the Tea Party folks is that they can't explain or provide SPECIFIC remedies for our current economic crisis. They make bumper sticker remarks about "socialism" and "taxes" but yet they can't tell anyone who to fix our issues-where will the $$$ come from? Also-I find it hugely ironic that not only have most of the tea party advocates NOT seen tax increases themselves, they have had tax breaks...unless of course you believe that the "average" tea party follower makes more than $250k per year. It's time to call out this nonsense for what it is--smoke and mirrors and entertainment disguised as "outrage." Media vampires like Loesch and Beck and others will no doubt makes lots of $$$ off of their misdirected "anger," but they will offer no solutions and will continue to divide the country.
Enough with the stereotyping of home schooling. I was home schooled beginning in the 5th grade and I am currently maintaining a 4.0 in college. Criticizing her political views are warranted but combining all home schoolers into a puddle of ignorance is a grossly uninformed opinion.
people of your preference are more likely to need therapy. Isn't your groups' suicide rate disproportionately high compared to the rest of the population? "people of my preference?" Are you kidding me with this garbage? If this is a thinly veiled reference to sexual orientation, then "yes" gays and lesbians (particularly teenagers) do have an elevated likelihood of suicide attemtps...from what I have read, most of that stems from depression and verbal and physical attacks against them...probably from ignorant people like you. Gay teens are routinely bullied and beaten up at schools across the country-something that I am sure you have no problem with. How do you sleep at night with a "mind" like that?
while I agree with her politics, and most of what she stands for.... Dana is a pretty tedious way of delivering it.... her show borders on the unlistenable, almost like a right wing garrafalo....shes snarky, image obsessed and almost comes off as a poseur in her delivery, worrying more about being trendy and sounding cool in how she delivers her message...she does some great work, but grow up, drop the douche of the week, and all the cool kid stuff and sound like a serious pundit and youll be extremely useful to your party and movement
I have not seen or heard much of Loesch's shows but from seeing her at the Tea Party Convention Coverage and on PJTV, I was impressed at her ability to listen when others speak, a very rare trait, with her ability to push points without seeming to push, to interject while being complimentary, and filling in when needed by more polished pundits stumbling. A lady to watch, definitely!
I also saw this on the "who gives a shit" channel.
Wow. The RFT can't help but try to make EVERY conservative into an over the top CONTROVERSIAL figure. Of all the things to talk about, a tweeting cat-fight? Really? And one that was exacerbated by one of the RFT's own contributors? Hey, pass me the National Enquirer. I need some real fair, insightful reporting and commentary. Hey RFT, here is a novel idea...how about ONE fair journalist on your staff...just for the sake of diversity. You know a real conservative. You may have heard about them. They now hold the majoraty viewpoint in America according to ALL the polls. Surely you can find ONE somewhere and ad an OUNCE of credibility to the Riverfront Slimes.
You evidently have time to sit around waiting on the RFT site to respond to comments on an article about someone you despise.....hmmmmm sounds like a full life. I notice you don't have the balls to drop us your full name so we can do a little examination of your life. Libtard. Dick-you do realize that you did the very thing you accused me of doing-i.e, making a comment minutes after someone posted one in response to yours...LMAO...maybe a remedial class in Critical Logic/thinking at a local community college might benefit you. Thanks for showing that you have a very weak grasp on the concept of hypocrisy (and irony). Your favorite "libtard" (my god what an asinine piece of trash you are)
To know Dana is to love her. Dana and I disagree politically but she's genuine and committed, and I'm happy for her personal successes.
Cameron, your comment about home schooled children is way off base. I know families who home school their children. Their children are very well educated and socially well-adjusted. The scored high on their ACT/SAT tests and excelled in college after the home schooling faze. The children also get plenty of social interaction from playing team sports, joining the Scouts, and taking part in church activities. From what I understand Cameron, people of your preference are more likely to need therapy. Isn't your groups' suicide rate disproportionately high compared to the rest of the population?
I am a conservative and I enjoy talk radio as I spend a great deal of time driving for my job. However, I am not a fan of Dana. One criticism of Dana I have is when she throws her voice on the air in an effort to mock liberals. It's not funny, and quite frankly, I have to change the station because it's annoying. Oh wow! Speak of the devil. I'm watching the midnight rerun of Greta on Fox News and Dana is being interviewed. Back to my point. Rush is the master of talk radio. I don't care what the liberal bashers say. He is hilarious, entertaining, and informative. There is a reason he has 20-plus million listeners and has a $400 million contract. I laugh my ass off when Rush imitates Barney Frank's lisp or the Justice Brother: Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. His Bill Clinton and B.O. impersonations are pretty good too. Rush's commentary is intelligent and articulate. Dana is no where near that talent level and she is worthy of only one of hour of airtime at the most, between Mark Levin and Dave Ramsey at 0200 hours. BTW, Mark Levin should be aired a lot earlier. He is #2 after Rush in the quality of talk radio. I also cringe when Dana does her "Cool Points" bit. It's not cool to pretend you’re so cool that you can give or take coolness from people. The premise of the bit is OK, but come with a more original title. I give Dana this much: She is better than the inarticulate little man J.C. Corcoran and that whiney pseudo-intellectual Charles Jaco.
It wouldn't hurt for her to consider why Jamie Allman would get 95% positive feedback if the article were done about him. No matter that he is more experienced, whatever. He is kind and it shows. She is so angry and know it all. No wonder savage chose her. I think the credit for the tea party movement is misplaced--most cities have growing movements, but she doesn't lead at all, acting like she's a prima donna and always talking about her next gig, instead of the little time we have to save our country. chances are the tea party this weekend will be a so-so showing but she'll gush about the huge turnout. she is embarrassing as a "professional" with her gettin' this and leavin' that...the suffix is "ing", Dana. She got the 2-hour slot because people like to hear her sound like a fool, like not being able to look at hte accident beside the road. she is the epitome of how a person can't buy class. I grew up with no money too but I don't advertise it.
> Ironically, Loesch was all over her radio program Tuesday evening, reaming Scott Brown and claiming that she tried to warn supporters that he was nothing but a rat. blahblah, etc blahblah. It's hilarious. A few weeks ago the teapers were blathering on about how instrumental they were in getting Brown elected. This kind of craziness will only help drive people back to the GOP. Really! They have no ability to form a party (and would have to get in line behind 40 others already out there). Loesch will eventually start toeing the GOP party line. In fact, she has already started backing off a lot of the incendiary remarks she used to make. She clearly knows what side her bread is buttered on, like most of the teapers do--and they are all starting to integrate back into the GOP. The GOP has them all figured out now and is working the teaps like cheap clocks. The teaper wave has already crested. Even Dana knows it.
"The majority of Americans seperate friendship/politics every day to maintain. What a shame that these whiners can't congratulate success because of politics. No, rather you try and tear them down. Maybe the fact that Dana has made it and continues to grow in popularity is more than some of the liberal minded bloggers, vloggers, musicians, comedians, and activists can handle." I can seperate my friendships and politics - however I cannot seperate when someone refers to our President as "The One" or the "Messiah" or to people who disagree with her as "The Left" or "Libetards" or calls our Senator Clair McCaskil "Care Bear" - I mean I'm sorry - that is just plain juvenille and rude. If you want to debate a topic - debate it - but use lose credit and respect when you result to name calling. Dana didn't start talking that way UNTIL she started getting more popular. I watched her work the first Tea Party rally and it was truly about bringing together left and right to fight over spending in government. Once she started being on the radio more and more the name calling began. I could care less that she isn't a shiny penny of perfection - if anyting it makes her real. I do however have a problem with name calling and being a hypocrite.
She doesn't stand for the principles of liberty or truth; all she's worried about is her image and ratings.
Dana's success is due to hard work and raw talent. She takes advantage of opportunities that rightly come her way - good for her. I think it's refreshing to see someone become successful following their passion. That's the beauty of living in this awesome country of ours. Thank you to the RFT for writing a balanced article about her, so more people can get to know her. Those who don't agree with Dana's political views or style can choose not to listen to her or read her work. She obviously resonates with many, as evidenced by her continued success. I predict we will be seeing much more of Dana Loesch, and I am glad!
It's a profile about her life AND her politics. Of course people are going to "assassinate her character"- it being put out there for show and tell. People are sick of her and her ugliness, period. You obviously haven't met her and don't know her enough to have been stepped on in her pursuit of her selfish goals (no matter what the collateral damage is), you're just part of the machine that has gotten her attention and the "fame" she wants. She complains about all the people who have stopped talking to her because of her politics, but the flipside of that is that most of those people she had intentionally pushed away through one means or another once she got what she wanted.
Dana keep doing what you're doing. You gotta love the progressives who can’t win an argument and have to result to character assassination. It’s pretty childish if you ask me. These people are scary, but thankfully the truth will always prevail. I leave you with words from the great progressive messiah, George Hagel: “Man owes his entire existence to the state."
Dana dismisses her critics and detractors as "those libtards." Wrong. She refuses to acknowledge that many people who actually agree with her views still have problems with HER personally and professionally. For all the reasons being posted here.
Sonia - I totally agree. I consider myself a conservative, listen to Jamie Allman every day on my commute to work and I still cannot stand to hear Dana's rude, hypocritical voice. It has NOTHING to do with politics for me. Back when she used to allow comments on her blog, I voiced my disagreement with her on a few occasions. Her response was always that I was a stalker and then she would name my place of employment (I guess she was trying to scare me into not commenting with any other viewpoint?). Now she won't even allow comments on any of her blogs. That's because she can't debate without being a hypocritical a$$hole. Oh, and Dana - PLEASE take the crap out of your mouth while talking on the radio. Seriously, are you wearing a retainer or something? The lisp is like fingernails on a chalkboard!
Pretty good article ... I recognize the Dana I know in this writing. For all you comment-haters, a few words: what I like best about Dana - no matter on air, in person, or in writing - is she knows who she is: a woman of faith, a woman with interests, a woman who fights for her family, her country, her friends. Life is short and people make their mark in their way; Dana is doing that with style, energy, and meaning. Good for her and for us. Besides being a womman worth hearing/reading, she is a woman really worth meeting (and I hope you all meet her) and we are all better off that she is around our community, our nation.
Dana talks a big conservative game but she chooses which liberties to be conservative about. Hey shes all about freedom of speech but DON'T YOU DARE LIGHT UP A CIGARETTE IN PUBLIC!! When it comes to true freedom, she is still learning the ropes.
The comments about Dana are on the mark, sadly she's just a local personality that has decided to embrace pursuit of $ over honesty and respectability. I'm sure she will do well in padding her bank account, I don't fault her for that but she's def. not doing this to help people... I will wait and look forward to her having a real debate where she has to use facts to back and support her points and contentions she spouts on her show until then she's just another talking head for entertainment.
Let's be clear. Many of us dislike Dana because she is a childish, condescending, holier-than-thou, arrogant person. NOT because we disagree with her beliefs. Dana has made a career out of spouting hateful, dishonest, shameful attacks on anyone she disagrees with. Look up the definition of hypocrite and there will find Dana Loesch. Anyone who uses the term "libtard" is completely discredited as having anything important to say. Only the stupidest of stupid would throw around a ridiculous term such as that. I'm sure, DICK, that you then get offended if someone uses the term "teabagger". It's called hypocrisy. Dana IS NOT a likable person. That is why people, including myself, do not like her. It has much less to with politics and much more to do with being a decent and honest human being. If Dana ever wants to earn my respect, she'd demonstrate that all her efforts are in the hopes of making this world a better place for everyone. As long as she continues to spread hate and misinformation in an attempt to gain fame and fortune, she will be my nemesis.
I've never met Dana. And, I'm listening to her online right now. I became acquainted with her husband years ago. He's a great guy... opinionated, hard-headed, typical musician/rockstar... and I really like him. With that said, the article is solid. She is good on radio... and I'm saying it as a fan, but as a former radio personality that beat Beck and Hannity head to head in Nashville. (* that knowledge and $5 still won't get you a latte at Starbucks.) However, from a standpoint of reaching people, engaging people and provoking a response, Dana is tops! Let's be reminded that while all the liberals hate the self-educated, non-college indoctrinated, native of Missouri, radio king known as RUSH, he captivates more than 25 million people each day. Dana, keep doing what makes sense to you! As one of the worst personal witnesses of Christ, I launched www.OneChristianNation.com because I couldn't deny my passion for standing in the gap that I believe the church has completely missed. And, because I see how faith and politics effects our lives everyday, someone needs to Speak Out. I'm glad you are. Let the naysayers pound sand.
I find it ironic to say the least that many of the people that are consistently whining and crying around about what Dana says. What Dana does. etc etc. These same people are aspiring bloggers, vloggers, musicians, comedians, entertainers and oh yes protesters and activists. Traveled the same path as the one they attack, many of them. Ditching friendships over politics? Really? Unable to seperate the two? The majority of Americans seperate friendship/politics every day to maintain. What a shame that these whiners can't congratulate success because of politics. No, rather you try and tear them down. Maybe the fact that Dana has made it and continues to grow in popularity is more than some of the liberal minded bloggers, vloggers, musicians, comedians, and activists can handle.
Uh-oh. Watch out, she's on air. Must be talking about these comments, just as I predicted. Here come the listeners!
Dana is AWESOME. Those of you haters who go so far as to attack her family have a great big kick in the backside coming, courtesy of KARMA! Keep up the good work Dana! You're Taking over the St Louis air waves and we LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
Wow ! Looks like commie trash talking Adam Shriver from Washington Univ. is upset ! Just go back to playing with your 13 cats.
I really wanted to like Dana. I consider myself a middle of the road gal - hoping to find someone besides Glenn Beck or Laura Ingraham to listen to. I just can't do it - the other night I listened to her for 30 minutes and I still don't know what the hell she was talking about except for that she really thinks she's pretty darn clever. The article was fair but did nothing to convince me to try and listen to her again. Maybe it's really Jamie Allmann in drag.
lets hear about your exciting life Cameron. You evidently have time to sit around waiting on the RFT site to respond to comments on an article about someone you despise.....hmmmmm sounds like a full life. I notice you don't have the balls to drop us your full name so we can do a little examination of your life. Libtard. and for the record, no relation to Dana or any of her family.
Her career seems to be taking off and she's traveling a lot, so how's she gonna keep up the homeschooling? I bet those kids end up in private school before too long. Free tuition, of course.
WOW!!! all you libtards are just proving what kind of assholes you really are. Lets put your life under a microscope!!!! Post your full name (including middle initial) and let us google search and casenet you and see what comes up. Cuz you know your all so fucking perfect. Eat shit assholes..... WOW, "Dick," you have some serious anger issues. I guess that just like your ill-chosen idol (Dana), you can dish out the sh** but obviously can't take it. The comments on this story pale in comparison to any random blog that demonizes and eviscerates Obama on a daily basis just for sport. Unlike Dana, however, Obama graduate from an Ivy League school and doesn't have to resort to schoolyard taunts and conspiracy theories to win people over. Go turn on Hannity, "Dick." It sounds like you are in desperate need of having your misguided and myopic worldview confirmed by yet ANOTHER college drop-out. Any takers that "dick" is Dana's hubby who is trolling on the board to defend her honor?
WOW!!! all you libtards are just proving what kind of assholes you really are. Lets put your life under a microscope!!!! Post your full name (including middle initial) and let us google search and casenet you and see what comes up. Cuz you know your all so fucking perfect. Eat shit assholes.....
oh-almost forgot...yes it is painfully obvious that she sold out her progressive values in order to whore herself out to tea party freaks and conservative (read: douchebag) radio listeners...and I just love how she talks about "liberal" Saint Louis. It's a read state, Dana...the city is a blue dot in a big, gun-toting, gay-hating, backwards-thinking state, so stop the cornpone BS about how "brave" it is to be a conservative here...it's intellectually dishonest and just plain insulting. Now run along and pray to God (Allah?) that you don't have an accident and need to go to the ER...where your uninsured *** will cost the rest of us $$$. Hypocritical jackal.
OMG-she is a train-wreck of biblical proportions. Where to start...? 1) She dropped out of college to marry a "rock band" singer and is home-schooling her kids...contrary to her claims about how "diverse" the group of kids are, I have many friends who are counselors and psychiatrists...and let's just say that there is a good reason for the stereotype of home-schooling. 2) They "choose" not to carry health insurance (OMFG)-really? Unless they are independently wealthy, this is beyond stupid and since kids are involved, it's also irresponsible. My $$$ says that she and her stellar husband will go bankrupt the first time that one of them or the kids get sick...unless of course they are into "holistic" healing at home. 3) She's into Coach bags but refuses to have health insurance--get your priorities straight, sweetie. 4) ANYONE who thinks that Michelle Bachmann is anything other than a raging cuckoo clock is either a) delusional b) impaired AND delusional c) a raging maniac in need of EST. 5) The fact that someone so young could be sooooo passionately misinformed on social issues is beyond sad...and the fact that this uneducated, shrill circus clown is headed for "stardom" on the vile talk radio circuit is yet another sad reminder of how a small but irritating group in this country reward bad behavior with fat contracts and unmerited accolades. Other than all of that, though, she seems like a real "sweet gal."
The media is full of not-so-qualified people who have bluffed their way into the spotlight. Sometimes they get found out, sometimes they don't. Dana is a good-looking young woman knows how to b.s. Apparently, that's all that matters to her audience. They don't care about her resume, credit history, past wage garnishments, etc.
Is that Paula Poundstone on the cover?
Ms. Loesch spends a lot of time attacking those who do not exhibit personal responsibility, but it appears she, too, is guilty of failure to exercise responsibility for her actions, particularly on the financial front. For instance, a quick search of case.net reveals a number of cases, including in a St. Louis County case called Sherman Acquisition v. Dana Loesch, Cause No. 2102AC-07498, where it appears that a judgment was entered against Ms. Loesch for her failure to pay her debts. The docket entries appear to indicate that a judgment was entered against Ms. Loesch in the amount of around $2,000, and the creditors appear to have been made verious attempts to garnish her wages, even as recently as when she was employed by the Post Dispatch. There appear to be other consumer credit judgments against her, too. If that's the case, then it is really difficult to take Ms. Loesch's platform of personal responsibility seriously.
C'mon, folks....let's not trash Dana for dropping out of college and getting pregnant out of wedlock. Who cares? Many commenters here did the same. Her two sons seem like genuinely good kids, and the Loesch marriage/household seems solid. I thought many of her Mamalogues columns were good, not the usual mommyblogger syrup. What's next, though, a TV reality show called "Chez Loesch"?" I'd watch it, though!
I am a hardcore Republican, if anyone cares. I'm not a fan of Loesch, because I don't admire her for her "civility" or "passion" or "knowledge" because I don't perceive her to be skilled at any of it. She is poorly educated and it is embarrassing at times, to witness her struggle to understand and reiterate complex subjects. I'm flabbergasted at how easily her fans play along, without bothering to fact-check for themselves. "Dana didn't graduate college, but has allowed a perception to exist that she went to an elite college. Who cares, she's a Real Patriot!" "Dana was a liberal until 24 months ago? Who cares, she's a Real Leader!" "She's like, got tats and stuff, and like, listens to metal music, and like, she's so cool and awesome and drinks beer and like, maybe we can get pierced together, like, you know?" It's NO DIFFERENT than the cult of Barack Obama, where O's fans simply accept that he is The One, without regard for his credentials or integrity. I reject Loesch as the leader of causes that taint my own causes, because she simply has no integrity, and is not the one who is best representing conservatism as she bumbles her way through. ps: Michael Savage is a true nutcase. Hosting his show is hardly admirable.
I've listened to Dana's show and read her entries at blogher and on her website for the radio - because I liked Dana, but I can't get behind her on this. She makes fun of people for being children while calling others names within the same breath. I can't respect people who do that. I do think her "anger" and "outrage" are more about making money then her actual opinon. JMHO, YMMV. As far as being responsible - I do not think 2 parents where neither of them carry health insurance to be responsible. Cut your personal budget or work harder but health insurance should be a priority for your children. Because #1 - when hospitals write off your bill (like they did Dana's mother-in-law) those expenses get passed on to us who are responsible enough to pay for our health insurance, therefore making our cost higher. Don't complain about universal health care when your family has previously passed the buck.
If those wanting to spread lies and innuendo would just read her stuff (like millions across the US have for years) they would know that she became pregnant at the age of 21. She went to Webster and only needs less than a semester to finish her degree (which seems silly since she already writes as a professional), so much for your "uneducated" argument. She has never been paid (nor has anyone) to appear at a St. Louis TEA Party. She was blogging as a conservative voice since 2001 (not for 1.5 yrs). She has not had health insurance for her or her family for 2 yrs (recently her new show will provide that, which is good). All the other attacks are just typical liberal name calling and too ridiculous to even comment about. Let he haters hate.
Nice profile piece. I've been reading the Manalogues since its Post-Dispatch days. Only recently have I began reading her other writings. Is she opinionated - definitely! So? Whatever your politcal persuasion, you should be passionate about your beliefs. The challenge is to be passionate AND civil, something that is becoming harder and harder to hear above the cacophony of strident name calling coming from the right and the left. Argue with me, raise your voice, - even stomp your feet if you must - and get absolutely frustrated when you can't get me to see "it" your way but please refrain from disparagement via name-calling and foul-language. I freely and glady spent most of my adult life defending your right to have and express your opinion. Please do yourself, your family, and all of us who care about the demoncratic process a service by being passionate AND civil, raising the level of political discourse to a higher standard. Perhaps such an example will give heart to those who are increasingly disgusted with the tenor of today's political discourse and encourage them to stay involved. BTW: also keep the stories of your kids coming - I have a grandson the same age as Ewan and they really resonate!
I am neither a Liberal nor a Conservative, but I still insist on holding Dana Loesch accountable for who she's trying to convince us she is. Right now, she is masquerading as some kind of hotshot journalism personality, a devotee to a Big Cause, etc. But I honestly think she's just a gal from Festus who enjoys a lot of attention and freebies.
Finally we get the truth about her "Pricey Liberal College" education! I've inquired about what college she attended on several occasions and she has always avoided answering the question. Interesting that she's a drop out. If my memory is correct, she dropped out as a pregnant teenager. Or maybe she was just barely 20 years old. I always wonder how it makes sense for an uneducated person to homeschool children?
Thanks Heidi for giving me another reason for wanting to be a lib. It will make me more interested, clever and savvy, like you. Roflmao
I am a critic of Dana Loesch, because I perceive her as an opportunist of the WORST kind; the kind of opportunist who embraces a political philosophy for money and 'success'. The reality is that Dana is more of a liberal than she is conservative-but liberalism just doesn't pay well. (right now) There are more opportunities being hate-right than hate-left. Much of the criticism of Loesch, has to do with her lack of experience (which shows!), her inability to cope with any disagreement, and a propensity to exaggerate her credentials and success. IE: claiming she is a professionally trained writer, not disclosing her children don't attend public school as she encourages parents to 'keep their kids home', taking credit for 'dumping dede . com' but disabling the site so no fact-checking can occur, wanting credit for Scott Brown's victory then trashing him only weeks later, allowing the perception to stand that she's a college graduate....there are MANY other examples of Loesh's disingenuous nature... Loesch has been faking her way for a long time, and she is being rewarded by a disinterested fan base who are not clever or savvy enough to catch on.
where do I sign up to be a liberal. I just gotta get me some of that tolerance and acceptance of other peoples' ideas like the libs on here have. Roflmao.
Poor Dana. She can't shut off the comments here to protect herself against the big meanies (for the record, I agree with the big meanies). Poor Dana. I have little doubt this will become one of her hardship stories. "And then, those People Who are Out to Get Me said mean things about me and I couldn't even delete their comments!"
Dana -- we get it about the hardscrabble upbringing, yadda yadda. But that's no excuse for going through your so-called adult professional life with a pottymouth and flipping the bird at everyone who doesn't agree with you. I'll be impressed when you start responding to your detractors with intellect instead of insults, with facts instead of f-bombs. Until then, my dear, you are simply "entertainment." Enjoy the ride.
Well, Dana had a chance to respond on her website (mamalogues.com) and I would like to clarify here, since comments are off at her site... First, her comments: ------------------------------------------------------ Craig Wagner was paid, what I could afford at the time and what he accepted, for his work on this website, and in all other instances, emailed responses that he would prefer assistance with referrals for jobs in exchange, with which he was assisted. No one was ever forced, asked, or expected to work "for free." And I am not a Kennedy. I wish all the liberals I know where as tolerant and fun as my liberal friends and those with whom I interact regularly on Facebook and Twitter. We can debate, laugh, and then have a beer. I also do not begrudge those associates who, after I became more vocal, found that they could not accept all of me as opposed to just a part. That's a method that I don't entirely agree with, in terms of editing who you are getting to know, but accept because each person handles things differently. I choose not to personally attack friends, even if they are liberals, and have gone out of my way to not do so. ------------------------------------------------ Now mine: Well, I'm sorry you took it as being all about the money, which it wasn't. I helped out because I'm a helpful, friendly person. I even rebuilt your site when your server crashed! (Though I never got that batch of chocolate-chip cookies). The bottom line is that politics did and do get in the way. As the Tea Parties, the MOAC site, and your prominence on conservative radio grew larger I had to ask myself what I was getting out of it. As a very liberal, staunch supporter of Obama, what was I doing helping a site - that makes money - of Dana Loesch, rising star in the conservative movement? Someone, who as part of their job uses language, rhetoric and tone that was/is often divisive to the very causes and people I support. So yeah, it came down to integrity. Should I continue working for Dana Loesch for free, referrals or even large sums of money? I don't agree with paining a picture of someone who stands up for their beliefs as a person who can't handle your becoming 'more vocal'. You stand up for your beliefs every day. Does that mean you can't handle a liberal person (me) who takes a stand for their beliefs? I don't know. What I do know and why I mentioned Kennedy is that I'm pretty sure that you would not work for him/them based on your beliefs. Is that not true? ---------------------------------------------------
It's hilarious that Jim Durbin would come here and say that jealousy always brings out the haters while at the same time going to another RFT post and attacking one of the commenters because the RFT ran his video: http://blogs.riverfronttimes.com/dailyrft/2010/02/james_okeefe_joseph_basel_video_st_louis.php . Durbin fits the stereotype of the angry tea party member perfectly, personally attacking all who disagree with him, baselessly attacking members of the media and activists, and engaging in wild-eyed conspiracy theories.
Great article, well balanced. I have enjoyed watching her interviews on PJTV. Thanks.
Great photos. Dana looks as looney as she sounds. Dana when am I going to see you at my local watering hole to make me uncomfortable? Though would you do so without shouting?
I don't get these people who name call just because they don't agree politically. I thought liberals loved diversity.
Nice article. The hate comes out in the comments, but that's to be expected. Jealousy of success always brings out haters. If you haven't been to a Tea Party, and you're wondering whether they're deranged lunatics or just honest people participating in democracy, you should head down to the Arch this Saturday at 1:30. There's no better antidote to the lies and smears of the Tea Party haters then meeting us in person. You can rant online, but you can't hide the truth from someone in real life, and as the article reveals, those who meet Dana, get the impression of an honest, but fiery personality whose time has come.
Wow, did you really just call the previous commenters names like a 3rd grader after spewing about how their opinions were half-witted? Just wow. In other news, the fact of the matter is that, as this profile points out, this college dropout is not only educating her children at home, she is also "leading" a movement (the cover could suggest she founded the whole thing, when actually she just was paid to lead some of the first rallies in St.L) that pines for a time before equal rights for race and gender, and that spews venom in lieu of discussion about financial matters... which obviously college journalism school dropouts are experts on. She is following the philosophy that nothing gets you more attention than being a train wreck, all the while leading a scary, blinded by the light group of followers. Nothing is more frightening than the fact that she recently called for her lemmings to follow seek out those who politically in public to engage in debate... while belly-aching in this piece about people who do the same thing to her. Oh, but don't tell her that- she will use some non-sensical, random, circular logic and argue with you until you are so confused you have no choice but to give up. When it comes to actually being opposed in an argument she will find the tiniest, most inconsequential fact that is irrelevant and focus on it, just follow her little cult on social media and watch those who try to engage in healthy debate with her... She is a vampire, sucking on this little bit of political flesh right now. And this article has done nothing to expose her for the hypocrite she is.
Agree with comment #1. I have just become aware of Dana, and your profile is a wonderful introduction - the best example of "just the facts" reportage I can remember. If the MSM followed your example they might pull their chilies out of the fire. I see the leftish commenters are true to form: Ad homs and flakey "facts". I think I saw you guys on the National Geographic channel the other day, jumping around in the trees shrieking and flinging poo.
She's just Sarah Palin with tattoos and half a brain. But hey, in the world of retards, the woman with half a brain is queen. Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame sweetie.
So I guess the writing is on the wall; the Democrats are going to get hammered on Election Day, right? I wouldn't be too sure about that. There are far too many monkey wrenches that are ready to be thrown into this engine. The most amusing thing to observe during the CPAC orgy last Thursday was their subtle attempt to disassociate themselves from the so-called "Tea Party Movement" without flatly rejecting it. What is going on here? Here's what's going on: The cooler heads within the Republican National Committee know damned well that the Tea Partiers are a ticking time bomb just waiting to explode. It's not merely the fact that most of these people are dumber than doggy dung, it is also the ugly reality that so much (although not all) of that movement is based on the nasty philosophy that has embodied the white supremacist movement for decades. You could hear it in the remarks made by the protesters at the September 12, "March on Washington". You could see it in the signs they carried. Most of these twits refuse to even acknowledge the fact that the president of the United States is an American citizen! Like Neville Chamberlain appeasing der fuhrer at the Munich conference in 1938, the RNC is frantically searching for a "peace in our time" moment. They have quite a dilemma before them to be sure. On the one hand they need to keep these jackasses "inside the tent pissing out" - so to speak. On the other hand they have to avoid alienating the moderates. Like the demented uncle living in the attic, they must do everything humanly possible to make sure that any contact with the neighborhood kids is limited if you know what I mean. The Tea Party people are already claiming credit for Scott Brown's victory in Massachusetts a couple weeks ago. They are determined to steer the course of the GOP in November, come hell or high water. If they are allowed control of the party, their extremism will only turn off a huge segment of the voting population. If they are denied that opportunity, they will splinter off into third and even fourth party uprisings. Have you ever watched an elephant try to walk a tightrope? It's more fun than a barrel of donkeys. http://www.tomdegan.blogspot.com Tom Degan Goshen, NY
This piece pretty much validates what many of Loesch's critics have been saying for more than a year. Saying that she misrepresents facts, would be an understatement. IE: No healthcare? Tell that to her show's sponsor, the insurance douche. The freebies and discounts are rolling in! Dana knows there's more money to be made in hate-right, than hate-left, thus the abrupt "change" in political beliefs this past 1.5 years. She's riding a wave of political backwash. That's all.
First, kudos to the author for an interesting, in-depth and impartial piece about a potentially controversial and polarizing personality. You presented a multi-faceted and complex individual - and not a one dimensional cardboard cutout to be judged merely on a political viewpoint. Thank you for that! As one who is personally acquainted with Dana, I must say that most of the observations are fair and accurate. I am pleased that, thanks to your piece, many more people who had never heard of Dana will now be introduced to her - and they will have the benefit of a full spectrum picture of her in this article. Being that RFT tends to lean leftward - some of us who love Dana were a bit trepidatious about a profile piece about her. Thank you for dispelling those fears with a fair and balanced piece. It's appreciated.

What a lost soul
